Its original muffs, (20+ years old), were missing their ear cups. My helmet is equipped with a debris shield that relies on the original bases as its hinge attachment point. To retain the shield, I simply unscrewed the new muffs from their bases and placed them, (the muffs, new wire slides and circular mounts), directly onto the standoffs of my original bases. I found that the standoffs on both Peltor bases, new and old, were identical in diameter and length, which allowed using the same single screw to secure. My old helmet now blocks harmful sound once again and feels as good as new. 5 out of 5 stars for a fabulous product from Peltor. I do tree work so constantly around chainsaws, wood chippers, loud diesel engines, back pack blowers, etc. These earmuffs deliver day in and day out blocking a significant amount of loud sounds yet I can still hold a normal conversation with them on. I have bought them several times (being my fault as once in a while I break them getting angry lol.) They are hard to break and last me months/ years at a time if taken care of.
