Hello, How much is the diameter on edges? As i am buying curtains with with 1.5" in diameter, so wondering if they would go through this rod?

It's only a couple of cms at the ends, you'll be fine if your curtains have 1.5 inches (3.8cms) headers. These rods are surprisingly sturdy, even holding a heavy thermal curtain by the back door. Just make sure you twist/untwist enough for the rod to have enough grip, if your curtains are heavy. I used curtain rings for ease of opening the heavy curtains and I've not had any problems. Not fallen down yet and been up over a year! Hope this helps :)

Do you have any idea the extent of the weight that each sized rod will support? And are they returnable if I find them unsuitable?

Hello. I use mine for heavyweight Nottingham Lace type net curtains, 6 ft wide x 90" drop. It copes well, although I wouldn't use it for anything much heavier than this. As for returns, I'm sorry I honestly don't know, perhaps an e-mail to the supplier would give you an answer.

Is this item really spring loaded as stated in the description or do you just twist it to the size you want?

It's both . You twist to the appropriate length and then compress it to fit your window and it then springs out for a tight fit. A very good and sturdy rail

Wanted this rod to hang light curtain on front door seller email mr saying it not for that yet review on amazon say fine for it ???
