Ortofon 2M Red Premounted 2M Red Pickup Mounted on SH-4 Black Headshell

What a difference this stylus made to the sound of my albums! I have a Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB-BK turntable that came with green AT-VMN95E stylus. Sounded pretty good, but in the couple of years I have had it, I just found something a bit lacking. I didn't feel like I was getting as much detail as expected and it made listening to vinyl more of a physical, ritualistic experience than a sonically satisfying one. So, I read up on the Ortofon red and blue and settled on the blue as it seemed like the clear upgrade I may have been looking for. And, I am happy to say it was. Very easy to install the head shell and I weighted the tracking force to 1.8 as recommended and go to listening. It was an instant difference. The clarity and detail in playback was satisfying and made me happy with my purchase even before getting through side one of Jackson Browne's "Running on Empty". I am not an "audiophile", but I am an audio enthusiast that enjoys getting the most out of my music listening. So, if you are looking for an upgrade in your sound, do some research on the Ortofon 2M blue and pit it against your current stylus/cartridge/head shell. 5 star recommendation from me!

I went from the Red stylus directly to the Bronze cartridge because I previously went from the stock 10 stylus to the 30 and I heard no improvement in sound. This by far is the best that I have personally heard vinyl records sound. I wasn’t a big fan but my son bought me the turntable as a Christmas gift a few years back. Keep in mind the only reason for the upgrade is because I keep accidentally breaking the stylus needles while cleaning the player . The sound quality is absolutely amazing compared to what I’ve been hearing. Set up was easy and there is also an included tool to help you with the tracking settings . The included head looks great and feels like better quality than the original. I can’t believe how much the sound has improved. Highly recommended upgrade.

I bought this as an emergency measure to replace a Charisma MC-2 cartridge that was ruined when it struck my turntable platter while I was adjusting the tracking force. For a cheap cartridge, this is seriously impressive and sounds almost as good as the Charisma, which was ten times the combined cost of this cartridge and headshell combined. The premounted unit screws right onto my tonearm's headshell mount, no tools or alignment required. The headshell is very light so I had to tape a penny to the top of it to get sufficient tracking force, but if you have a lighter-weight tonearm (the sort you would expect to mount a $100 cartridge) this probably won't be a problem. The sound quality isn't quite top tier (pretty close though!), but it is way better than cartridges at this price point used to sound, and it is very forgiving, with far less surface noise on worn records than the Charisma. There is virtually no coloration or "EQ" of the sound, it does not give you a "warm" version or a "bright" version of the music, but exactly the timbres you would hear on a well-mastered CD. I have not attempted it, but stylus replacement is supposed to be extremely quick and easy, with the ability to swap in the stylus from the next model up in the range, giving you effectively a $50 discount on a future Ortofon Blue purchase. The futuristic plastic casing looks a bit cheap for those of us who like old fashioned rectilinear styling, but it's a fine cartridge and a screaming value.

This is such a game changer to how my Technics SLD-202 turntable sounds! It was super easy to install and every album seems to sound better than the previous one! I almost purchased the red one, but opted to invest and upgrade just a tad. I feel like I received my moneys worth, as far as value is concerned. Ortofon was recommended to me by an Audiophile, and I’m sure it’s a trusted brand with other audiophiles and vinyl Collectors!

I’ve got ambient sound the way it should be. Clear and rich. I’m set for revitalized vinyl listening. Installation is not difficult. Balancing the tone-arm is tricky, but that would be the case with any pickup.

Put on my 1978 Fisher MT-6330 totally woke it up , The clarity is superb highs are crisp and lows are Deep even at low volumes over all a Much better experience than the stock Audio Technica AT98 E/U And the only real negative is the Stylus guard is a pain in the but to get on

Trying this 2m blue. Replacement for the at95e. My table being a fluance rt81. I set the track force and anti skate at 1.85 grams , this ortofon blue is without doubt much more responsive than a 95e it made such a change I had to redue my equalizer as well as the bass and treble on my fosi preamp. Nice upgrade great sounding on both jazz and hard metal.

I damaged my Ortofon Blue that came with my Fluance RT85. I had never been happy with the sound quality of the Blue and had added a tube preamp with tone control to reduce the harshness. I used AI chat to analyze my system and make a suggestion as to my best replacement option. Based largely on my Martin Logan ESL speakers and mid level electronics it was suggested the Bronze was the most effective option (the Black not appropriate for my setup). I bought the Bronze and removed the preamp. The AI was correct. I hear dramatic improvement in imaging, sound stage and presence in material such as my 1980's Mobile Fidelity pressings of Days of Futures Past and Aqualung. Harshness in instruments like symbols is greatly improved. What I learned I guess should have been obvious - a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. It is essential to analyze your entire system in deciding if this is a wise purchase for you.

Very good head wuth cartridge installed real good sound improvement

Chose this cartridge as an upgrade of the Ortofon 2M Red that came with my Technics SL1500c turntable. The gain and capacitive loading match closely with the supplied red cartridge. The sound quality of the 2M Bronze is a significant upgrade and is probably the optimum choice for this turntable. I use the built in phono preamp of the Technics driving a Willsenton integrated tube amplifier and KEF R3 Meta speakers. This provides true high end sound quality for a reasonable price. It all starts with having a good cartridge and the Ortofon 2M Bronze is fully up to the task.
