Very Nice Potting Soil
I really like this succulent mix. It drains well, which is a must. I keep many cactus and succulents and I'm always looking for good soil. This nutrient rich formula is working really well so far. I'm not used to paying this price for a small bag, but for the sake of convenience I would do it again. I normally buy large bags from the big garden centers in town, but was unable to find it when I needed it. I took a chance on this and I'm glad I did. I had a lot of small transplanting projects to do, so the small bag was just perfect. There were a lot of complaints in the reviews about gnats and fungus being in the soil. I can tell you from experience that that can happen with any soil from anywhere. It's always a crap shoot when you buy a bag of soil and open it up. Gnats and fungus spores can get in the soil at the manufacturing facility, in the warehouse where they're stored, or even while they're in a truck being delivered somewhere. I wouldn't fault the company for having these problems. Sometimes you could open a bag of soil and put it in your garage or shed and all it takes is one gnat to come lay an egg or one fungus spore and you're whole bag can be spoiled. I got lucky with this particular bag. No complaints here! Another issue I saw in the reviews was that people were unhappy with the little bits of wood found in the soil. This soil actually comes with aged bark (it says it on the bag), so little bits of wood is to be expected. A lot of cactus mix comes with bits of wood, so I'm used to it. If someone didn't like it, they could easily pick the pieces out and throw them away. Again, no complaints here! In the future, if I need a small bag of soil I would absolutely purchase this again. I'm quite happy with it! :)

more like dirt + peat than succulent, but I think I like it
I just repotted some plants with it. It feels more like dirt + peat + woody bits than a pure succulent mix, but on the bright side, that makes it more flexible for more types of plants. And it will maybe help prevent root rot.

Great for beginners like me!
I’m still a beginner with succulents and cacti, but this mix has been really easy to use. It feels light, drains well, and my plants seem happy in it so far.

Great Draining Mix and My Succulents Are Thriving
This has been a great soil mix for my succulents. The texture is nice and loose, and it drains well, which is exactly what I want for plants that don’t like sitting in wet soil. Since repotting with this mix, my succulents have been doing really well and continue to grow nicely. They look healthy, and I’ve been very happy with how the soil performs. The larger value size is also convenient if you have several plants to repot.

Works, but get rid of the gnats first
My bag was infested with gnats. But I managed the problem by emptying the substrate onto a bunch of oven pans and leaving them out under the summer sun for a few days. Basically, I cooked the soil, turning it about once a day until I no longer saw any gnats or crawling organisms in it. But honestly, I’d rather deal with a cloud of dust than a cloud of fruit flies. After that, it was smooth sailing. The mix works great for succulents. I mix more perlite with it so there even more drainage as I live somewhere a bit too humid for succulents and cacti to be happy year round. This soil does become hydrophobic, so I repot after about a year when I notice my plants aren’t really growing. Overall, I recommend using it, but definitely isolate from your other bags of substrates first and check it before potting your plants.

Great soil mix for succulents good drainage
I’ve tried a few different succulent soils before, and this one has worked really well for my plants. The texture feels light and gritty, which is exactly what you want for succulents and cacti since it drains quickly and doesn’t stay soggy after watering. I repotted several plants using this mix and noticed they adjusted pretty fast with no signs of overwatering or root stress. It also doesn’t have that strong chemical smell some soils have, which I appreciate when using it indoors. The bag was clean with very few large wood pieces, and I didn’t need to mix in extra perlite right away like I’ve had to do with other brands. For beginners especially, it’s convenient because it’s ready to use straight out of the bag. Overall, a solid organic mix that makes repotting simple and keeps succulents happy. I’ll definitely buy it again.

Inborn gnats eggs
I suppose this works, unfortunately I experienced gnats which I read are inborn in the soil. I was not going to order another product to get rid of them. Threw out succulents and ALL. However, since then, my son in law told me to add peroxide to the water. 🤷♀️
