This filter is already making a positive difference in the AC unit perfomance. It has caught seeds, feather and other stuff that was surely getting into the AC before. It has to be an improvement for the internal working of the AC. Happy to add it to the outer ring and watch it work. Get one for your AC.

Fits, works, but I agree it should come with the air conditioner. It is pricey for a plastic ring with some screen on it. I added foam at the outside vent as a pre filter "Duck Brand 1285234 Replacement Air Conditioner Foam Filter, 24-Inch x 15-Inch x 1/4-Inch, 1-Pack"($2.66 cdn). Used scissors and cut out a piece to fit the outdoor vent. This was to keep bugs out of the vent tubing.

Although a bit expensive, the mesh is high quality, and fine enough to stop no-see-ums from entering your air conditioner - where they would be difficult to clean out.

This is a MUST HAVE item for your Whynter ARC portable a/c! I was amazed during routine cleaning of the unit's filters to see how many tiny gnats were stuck in there!!! The intake and exhaust hoses are on the INSIDE of the window's screen which these gnats were able to penetrate. The few weeks of humid, rainy weather were responsible for these tiny invaders. I routinely clean all filters on a weekly basis to be sure to have good air flow and help extend the life of the a/c unit. Although it was a bit tricky to remove this pre-filter the first few times, it gets easier each time and well worth the effort. It's durable and simple to clean. Small investment to protect your a/c!

So this was very namebrand specific and too small but if you have the stuff that you can put around windows and stuff like that, that is kind of tacky but comes right off and can even be reused, people with boats use it people with old houses use it, it has a Play-Doh and silly putty put together quality, it's just perfect, I put that around it and it's sat inside the hose just perfectly. America is about ingenuity. I wouldn't try to use tape that would go wrong on you.
