This baofeng radio is a great tool for hiking, taking far walks, and more, I like this item because it can be programmed via usb or menu, and it also has a very good battery capacity, and it can last for a long time and even comes with a battery saver. I also like this item because it has a good range, and has a lot of accessories. Great price for this radio. 5 stars for sure.

Good quality two way radio for a good price they have good sound for a good distance the ear buds that come with it are the only low quality item but if your serious about you electronics you just know to always upgrade the ear buds there always mid quality everything else is great love these.

Baofeng radios are good entry level amateur radios. I have bought several and they all work connecting to local repeaters. I bought this 2 pack for a project I'm working on and both radios worked great. There was one small problem on one of the radios. The antenna washer that screws on the top of the radio was not connected but in the bag. I had to connect it before putting on the radio antenna.

At around $20 per radio, the value proposition of the UV-5R is insane. They're relatively well built, transmit and receive clearly in the 1-2 mile range, and are jam-packed with features. The interface is a little confusing and the included booklet isn't great at explaining everything the radio can do, but it's a popular enough model that there's plenty of great guides for it online and in print. I wholeheartedly recommend these to anyone looking for an inexpensive option for tactical field comms or an accessible way to get into the ham radio hobby.

At the price point for two units, why wouldn’t you get a set? Spend some time learning how to use them, and you’ll have a lot of peace of mind.
