Following online suggestions, I slipped the pipe into a baggy then popped it in the freezer for 10 minutes. Stem came out easily and there's about a five minute window before it gets really firm again. I don't want to go through that for filter changes so I popped in the plastic extension tube that came with the pipe. That said, it's a beautiful well made pipe and a great smoke. Airflow quality is the same as without a filter. I still felt the same “tongue bite” as without a filter: I was smoking a Missouri corncob pipe for this review. As far as how it cuts tar and nicotine, I have no idea? If that is a big priority for you I would recommend the carbon filters. If you want to cut humidity in your stem … great product ## Frequently Bought Together - Savinelli 6mm Balsa Filters, Italian Balsa Wood Filters for Briar Pipe Care, Savinelli Pipe Accessories, 100 Pack - ZEN Bundles Zen Pipe Cleaners Hard Bristle, 132 Count (Pack of 3),Yellow - Savinelli Roma Lucite 614 - Rome Inspired Italian Briar Wood Pipe, Hand Crafted in Italy, Traditional Wood Pipes From Italy, Oom Paul Shaping, 6mm --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.is/products/538320477-savinelli-pipes-6mm-balsa-wood-pipe-filters-100-count](https://www.desertcart.is/products/538320477-savinelli-pipes-6mm-balsa-wood-pipe-filters-100-count) --- *Product available on Desertcart Iceland* *Store origin: IS* *Last updated: 2026-10-05*
