A working review.
Mounted it on the back of of my flatbed truck. Have not had a chance to use it much. It is solid product clamping force seems very good. It has been sitting out in the rain and has not rusted yet. I'm sure with further use it will eventually. Although it is painted very well. Not sure what the clamping jaws are made of but it has rained on them for the last several days and no rust. . As for using it on a receiver hitch. I think that if you are used to bending over to use it it would be fine. I would never use it there unless it was my last option. Just my two cents. I will give an update when more I get to use it more and send it through the paces. Update. Ok, Sending it through its paces. I still believe it is the best vise for a flatbed truck, not for the receiver. I would have to build a riser to use it off the receiver. Yes, it does have surface rust on the anvil after much use. Not that big of a deal. It is painted well where it counts on the slide of the dynamic jaw and placed that don't receive use. The handle has not rusted or show any signs that it will except where welding spatter stuck to it. The dynamic jaw has stayed smooth and easy to rotate. It has very good clamping power. I have not used the anvil much to bend or shape metal. I have just just done some light work with the anvil. The handle that can be pulled out to ratchet the handle is a great idea. It works well when you have a piece in it and the handle cant spin a full rev. The dislikes. I think that the metal that makes up the anvil is to thin to do heavy pounding. But a vise in not designed for heavy pounding. For heavy pounding get a true anvil. The slop adjustment screws are a not great but will work. Not sure how you patent an allen screw but ok whatever. They will just not get the vise super tight in the receiver. Width of the jaw opening could be about a 3/8 inch wider to allow for a full six inch piece to be placed in it. But that would of made it stick out another 3/8 inch so give and take??? But, it would of been so much better. The inability to swivel to vise is a hindrance. But, the lead screw has to go some where. So without design change you can't do that. The bench mount could of had nuts or threaded holes for bolts to steady the vice in the bench mount. That will be one improvement that I will be making to it. The metal for the bench mount seems to be think enough to allow for a threaded hole. So in conclusion. The vise will make a great addition to any work truck. No, It is not a stationary vice nor was it designed to be one. But it was designed to be an outside vise where stationary indoor vise is not. For the money that you pay for the vise it will last for years to come. Without the addition of a homemade riser don't expect a normal working height. I try to be unbiased when giving a review and I hope this review helps. Update, I have had this vise for about two years I think. So far it has held up. The paint has held up and the vise has not cracked or had any malfunctions. As I weld and do metal work it is constantly used and banged on. While it does have some surface rust for welding spatter or the grinder getting a little close. I never did drill and mount nuts to stabilize it but after using it this long I probably won't. After using it not that big of a deal. I still think that the metal on the flat surface is still thin but it has held up it a 32 ounce ballpin. I have a 4 lb shop hammer but try to refrain on the flat. Once in the jaws a different story. And again I give a two thumbs up. But if I had to use it on the reciever then it would be a thumbs down. I would have to use a homemade riser. One last thing remember it is just a two inch square tube that the vice screws in and out of it may not take a heavy twisting action. If are going to really twist on it 36 inch pipe wrench and a cheater move the vice as far into the reciever as you can. I have not had this problem but it can happen. Regards,

Versatility.
Great versatility. As a mobile welder/ fabricator being able to move it to multiple points let's you use it however you need it. Also being able to store it inside the van when not in use make is less likely to get stolen. Quality wilton vice. Smooth operation and great hold. I'd recommend this to anyone doing work in the field.

WORKS IN THE SHOP AND ON THE ROAD
We RV extensively during the summer and this is very easy to slip into the pick up bed when we take off. Only used once on the road, to assist another RV'er. Works great in the garage. Have used it to sharpen lawn mower and chain saw blades. Holds everything in place. Was easy to set up and install. So far, no rust is forming on the product. Would recommend this to anyone who needs something for the road and at home.
