Does this work for mac and pc?

I checked the Amazon reviews one entry had checked with Crucial It is compatable with the iMac 27inch 5k late 2015 I bought 2 packs making 32GB and fitted them into my iMac 5k and have had no problems. I do not know about the PC's I recommend contacting Crucial to check compatibility.

Why the extra 8 gb of ram has only been shown as the committed memory instead of the main one?

Should show complete memory if using 64 bit OS

Hi, your macbook takes DDR2 memory, you are asking question relative to a DDR3. As far as I'm aware, they are not interchangeable. On Crucial's web site, they do not list 2GB rams, only 1GB! Hope this helps. Michael.
