Manage Your Expectations
I feel like we need to be clear about these high-end products and manage expectations a bit. Sometimes the marketing can lead one to believe you're getting more than you are in terms of real-world performance. To be fair, Crucial does deliver on their claims. This is a fantastic product, in that it is reliable, well made, and technically faster than last gen. That being said, unless your use case is one in which you're reading and writing gigantic files, you're not going to see the benefit of gen 5 vs gen 4 in "practical" use. Most reads and writes are not sequential, and as such, you're not going to feel the speed. Just launching into various apps and games, you won't feel the difference at all. The potential difference between load times is within margin of error for the most part. To use a car analogy, non-sequential reads is like having a Bugatti that goes 200+ miles per hour, so you floor it coming off a stop light hoping to go fast. But the next stop light is 100 yards away. You can go pretty fast in that amount of time, because it's still a super fast car, but there's not enough room to reach top speed. Compared to a Corolla (spinning platter HDD), it's night and day. Compared to Lamborghini (gen 4 M.2), there might not be enough difference to make a difference. The are real world applications to these drives, to be sure. Mostly in the productivity and server space, though. Navigating the internet and loading games is not it, in my opinion. But with that said, if you're the kind of person who just wants to latest and best because it's available, go for it. That's what I did. I use this as my C drive with the OS on it, because why not? Theoretically, there's some speed increase to be had there, even if it's hardly noticeable.

Great value for your money
I purchased a new computer and it only came with a single 1TB SSD.. Considering I'm a massive gamer I knew immediately it was going to be an issue.. I settled on an External drive with a fair bit of memory 8 TB's and that filled my needs for a while, but I noticed that some games had stuttering and lag, which considering the specs on my system shouldn't have been happening.. RTX4090, 64 GB of ram, etc etc etc etc.. So I narrowed down the likely causes to the External HDD, so I knew I needed to remedy that situation asap.. After searching around I settled on the Crucial T700,, highly rated, and reviewed.. The price is hefty but gaming isn't a cheap hobby, if you want to play like a pro, you gotta pay like a pro.. The install was super easy, plug and play pretty much, the only issue arose from trying to format the drive for use.. after a half hour and numerous youtube videos I discovered that I had forgotten to name the drive, after feeling like an idiot, I had my harddrive installed and ready to roll.. Download speeds have never been faster, I've always had issues with steam download times, normally stuff that my internet speeds should have done in minutes would take an hour or more, with the Crucial it's down to taking minutes again.. I honestly couldn't be happier with this product.. If had another slot on my board I'd pick up another and never have to worry about uninstalling and installing games again.. Extremely happy with this purchase..

This thing is solid... and fast!
This is blazing fast if your motherboard supports PCI 5.0. A couple things to keep in mind, it has it's own heatsink. I think you probably can remove it and use your own but from what I read it is a good one and does the job, so I just used the built in one. At first I had some issues getting it to sit properly on my motherboard and then realized there was a layer of compound on the back of it, which this has one built in, so once I removed that it was fine. The only negative issue I have had is that I can't get the crucial software to set the over provisioning. It keeps telling me to do it manually in drive manager. I think it is worth the price, it is fast, but keep in mind on real world experience, if you already have an m.2 you are likely not to notice a ton of difference unless you are copying a large file, normal day to day use is similar, actually my Sabarent Rocket 4 had better random read write speeds. I posted that benchmark also. But if you want the latest cutting edge and fastest... this is your drive. I also used the EaseUS Partition Master to clone my windows 11 os with zero issues. Worked perfectly, entire system cloned in about 9 minutes. I can't recommend that software enough...

Fast and reliable
I have bought several of these, no failures They are fast and reliable so far. I consistently get 12GB/s on read with Crystal Disk Mark. As I expected, they require a heat sink to prevent throttling (and they throttle under heavy write loads even with a heat sink). I didn't try active cooling, but if I were going to use these in a mainly heavy load situation, I probably would.

Crucial T700 Worth The Money!
great storage capacity, lightning fast, and the heatsink works great under heavy load!

Nice, fast storage...
Make sure you slot this into the Pcie5 slot of your motherboard! I have used this drive in an Intel z-790-f motherboard and an AMD x670-e motherboard, and it was detected right away, no issues at all. Linux (Fedora 40) sees the drives and installed no problem. Speeds pretty much match what's advertised, so no issues there. Just make sure when you put this in a newer motherboard, that you pull the sticker off of the head sink pads when installing the drive, that can be easy to miss. These drives get hot so make sure it's installed properly. The motherboard cooling solutions work pretty well, so the drive getting hot shouldn't be an issue.

Very fast and stable, but it does run hot. Installed in a PCIe4 m2 slot.
I have a Z790 motherboard with a 13700k. Specs say it is a PCIe4 m2 slot, but I also have a PCIe5 GPU slot. I reached out to the seller to see what speeds I could expect and they said full speed because I have a PCIe5 x16. They were wrong, so go off of your MB spec not what anyone else says. I am using the Heatsink on my MB for this and it works fine, however idle temps are around 45c and under/benchmark they went up to about 63c tops. Without the side panel on my case, Idle temps were at 50c. In comparison my old Fury renegade had idle temps around 32c and never went over 50c. Also for comparison, I included the last 2 images for the Kingston fury/renegade the Images with 7016 and 7041 speeds. The rated speed for that fury drive is 7300/6000MB/s read and write. The theoretical max speed on PCIe4 is 8000MB/s That being said, when bench marking the old drive I would get Passmark ratings between 48k and 53k. With this new drive, I always get over 56k as indicated in the red benchmarks. Also with this new drive having better performance than what my Motherboard is capable of, I am now getting a true indicator of my MB performance. Also if you notice second bench, this drive is rated at 1.5 million IOPS and I got 1.39 million. This is a very zippy drive even on PCIe4 m2. The performance difference isnt much on my specific system and this drive is over 100 dollars more. In short, lol. If you have a PCIe5 M2 slot, this is the drive to get. IMO, If you do NOT have an existing PCIe4 NVME drive with good specs then you might want to consider this drive for max speed on your system. Further, depending on your system upgrade path, you should get this drive if you are doing a new build or upgrading within the next 6 months. No matter what heat sink you use, you will need good air flow in your case to help reduce temps. I have actually reversed the air flow in my system so the rear fan blows into the case across the VRM, NVMe and the GPU, and my exhaust is out the front with my dual fan AIO.

M.2 SSD Designed for speed for gaming
The Crucial SSD M.2 T700 is very fast and is designed for 2 TB of storage. the only thing you must think about is that you must consider the heat in regards to installing. This SSD requires a heat sink built into your motherboard or a heatsink included with this SSD M.2 T700. if you decide not to use a heatsink with this SSD then the life expectancy will be affected.
