Fantastic Hamster cages, great CS. Love that they stack. EDIT: I now have 3.
Bought two of these. And think they're great in my opinion. Size is fantastic, panels are thick enough, plenty of ventilation on the sizes. Top and bottom is made of metal, top has lots of ventilation as well, I don't see how a hamster would be able to get purchase to chew anywhere and nothing to rattle to make noise. Lid has a rubber ledge cushion(at least that's what I thought it was as it's not mentioned in the instructions, well not that i saw, so I guessed its use). I bought the castors seperate, and lots of accessories(wheels, baths, ledges, bottles, mushrooms) from this company on Amazon. The second cage I put together had a cracked back panel. Contacted CS and they sent me a new back panel that took 3 days to arrive, quick and helpful indeed, they just don't operate weekends, so had to wait from Saturday to Monday for them to get my message. But it was fast delivery for sure. Had a hamster chew through the door hinge of a PawHut... never buying that brand again. I don't think I'll ever consider buying another brand of cage now. EDIT: I now have three of these wonderful cages(thats how great they are). They stack really well and are really sturdy. So easy to put togther and my hamsters just LOVE the space. I love the quality and haven't had any problems with these cages, theyre just great. If you do look to stack 3, like I have, buy the offical stacking accessories and I'm sure you wont have a problem. The screws are longer to fix them together and I can still wheel them around the room fine, I'm just careful and manuver them from the bottom using manual handling techniques. I have 6 inches of bedding which is more then enough for my russian dwarfs, they have created tunnels for their food stashes everywhere. If you have kids and you let them climb on the cages, its not the Bucatstates fault at all, but your own. Hamsters are not for kids and are not a toy, I'll never understand why people buy fradgile little hamsters for destructive, temperamental children, they can't look after the cages never mind the little lives running around inside them. Also, I noted in some reviews that people say the floors fall out and the sides bulge...I don't know why people are saying this as I've not had these problems at all... if you don't compact and force bedding down or misuse the cages they are just great. Their customer service is great, I can't fault them at all. So helpful, understanding, kind and polite. A pleasure to deal with.

Amazing Cage!
One of the best cages out there that meet the requirements. Super easy to assemble. The front door is high up enough to add an appropriate depth of bedding. Completely clear all the way round, making it fun and easy to watch your hammy burrow or sleep. Love the minimalist, clean look. The metal frame and bottom is extremely sturdy and the hamster will definitely not be able to escape/chew through unlike other wooden cages on the market at a similar or even more expensive price point. Ventilation is quite good but sometimes I will leave the top lid open whilst hammy is sleeping or I am in the room to supervise. Extremely easy to clean and wipe away any messes. After upgrading from a smaller, wired cage, our hamster seems much less stressed and enjoys having so much room to burrow and run around. Only downsides is that the acrylic sides are a bit wobbly so have to be careful if leaning on the front panel. There could be some concerns with bulging of the sides and bottom if a lot of bedding is used (I have the base resting on a dresser so shouldn't be an issue). One of the locks on the front door does get a bit jammed/difficult to open at times. It is quite pricey but definitely worth it!

Comparison review - 2.0 & 3.0
When bought & for how much? - I bought this (100 x 50 x 52.5cm) Bucatstate 2.0 for £154.99 in April 2025. Background - why this cage? - I have a dwarf hamster - I had bought the 120 x 60 x 62cm Bucatstate 3.0 before this one (for £237.49 in January 2025) & loved every aspect besides assembly > this one seemed easier to assemble (see below) and has the same style, look & access (top & front doors) What did I want from this cage & did it meet those requirements? - I wanted a second, temporary cage for my hamster for when staying with friends/family > it works nicely for this, light enough to lift even once the bedding & accessories are in and can be carried by two people. It's more manoeuvrable than the 120 x 60cm cage, e.g. it can be carried easily up stairs, and easier to fit in a car without disassembling - A cage that meets minimum recommended size for hamster cages in the UK (100 x 50 x 50cm / 40 x 20 x 20 inches) & fits minimum recommended height of bedding (15cm/ 6 inches, compressed to allow burrowing) - Easy to assemble > it only took about 15 minutes to assemble by myself. I only asked for help to slide the front panel in, to save time. You could assemble it on your own. It is not heavy and you do not need to be strong to assemble it - Good access - having both a front opening door and a top opening door make cleaning & rearranging the cage easy. The lid can also be entirely removed during cleaning. I previously had an IKEA Linnmon and this cage is very similar but has the benefit of the front opening door - My hamster is shy & prefers interaction at his own level, i.e. not just from above > the front opening door works nicely for this - You can buy replacement parts (e.g. sides & door latches) for this cage - very reassuring in case of scratches/breakages - You can (theoretically) connect two or more of these cages side by side - nice to know I can expand the size - Aesthetic design - it looks like it does in the listing so fits nicely into a room aesthetic. - Easy to clean - it's wipeable and doesn't seem to react to a 50/50 solution of white vinegar & water (which is frequently recommended for cleaning out hamsters) - You can buy wheels for the feet of the cage - a nice option for easily moving the cage, e.g. to vacuum under it or relocate it within a room - Rectangular cage so does not slope inwards at the base or top like a lot of cages, allowing full use of the floor space & height of the cage Any extra benefits? - Came well-packaged without scuffs or breakages - Came with two spare door clips for the front opening door - reassuring in case any break - Why not 5 stars? Does the 3.0 fix these issues? - The sides of this 2.0 bulge when filled with the recommended minimum amount of bedding (15cm / 6 inches deep) - this is not the case on the 3.0, which has minimal bulging even at 30cm/12 inches of bedding - The cage rattles when the hamster wheel is placed near an edge or on a platform that is near an edge, which is annoying for if you are sleeping in the same room - the rubber seals on the 3.0 stop this (even if they make assembly difficult) - The lid is loud when lifting & closing, which is not a problem for me but could be an issue for noise-sensitive hamsters. (You could just use the front door for access, though) - this is resolved on the 3.0 due to the rubber strips all round the sides & on the top reducing noise - When closed, the front opening door sometimes pops in or out a bit due to the front bulging. Might not suit a hamster that chews a lot at exposed edges - this is not a problem with the 3.0 due to the thicker acrylic & increased number of latches on the front opening door that holds it in place more securely - The base of the cage bulges downwards when filled with bedding & accessories (I have placed the cage on a block of wood the height of the legs so it is supported to fix this) - this is fixed on the 3.0 because Bucatstate has added two metal reinforcement bars Benefits compared to 3.0? - 3.0 took me a few hours & multiple helpers to assemble due to the rubber strips on the sides & lid so wouldn't suit being a temporary cage needing regular assembly/disassembly - this one was quick to assemble - 3.0 assembly would be difficult for people with physical challenges / fatigue - 2.0 assembly was quick and simple - 3.0 is more expensive - this is cheaper in comparison & definitely value for money considering the quality Summary - Excellent cage, meets minimum size, looks good, not as high-spec as the 3.0 but easier to assemble, good access with front and top doors, well-designed, good quality, easy to clean Do I prefer 2.0 or 3.0? - For a permanent cage, the extra space and higher spec of the 3.0 makes it my favourite - and the assembly only needs doing once! - For a temporary cage or cheaper option, the 2.0 works nicely - Both are decent cages

Best hamster cage you will ever need!
This is the only hamster cage I will ever use, I can’t recommend it enough! There is nothing else better. I had been wanting a hamster for a while but struggled to find the right cage that met all the hamster requirements and my personal aesthetic. I wanted a clear and metal cage but felt an aquarium was too heavy, too expensive and lacked the right ventilation. Wooden cages also get soiled easily and hamsters can chew through! I also wanted to avoid bar biting and bar climbing with a wired cage and not being able to add deep enough bedding without it causing a mess. Well… this cage meets ALL NEEDS! I am able to see my hamsters walking around and when they’re in their burrows deep at the bottom, I can add the right bedding depth - 8 inches and fit all the toys, wheel and enrichments my hamster needs. I like that it’s a little over the minimum cage requirement of 100cm (108cm) as it just add a little extra room and I guess more the merrier! It doesn’t take up too much room and looks super clean and neat. I have it in white so it blends in well. It has little legs so it sits nicely on top of a unit, which mine is currently on. It is super sturdy and solid without it being ridiculously heavy and difficult to move. Given it is a large cage, I love that it has stacking kits so you are able to stack multiple cages, which takes up less room and again looks very neat. The large top entrance lid makes it super easy to clean and put everything in and I love the front smaller entrance - I can use this to quickly get access to the cage for smaller cleans and to interact with my hamsters. They sit and wait at the front for me to open it up and we have treats and they crawl onto my hands easily. I never have to worry about my hamsters biting or escaping, as it is super secure and it really puts my mind at ease not having to worry about this - the cages are easy to assemble and I have had no issues with this or the packaging. I love this cage so much I have just bought a third one! To me, it’s worth the investment and in comparison to other cages on the market and what this cage offers the price is quite reasonable.

Game changer in ethical gerbil/hamster keeping
This is a real game chamber when it comes to ethical gerbil and hamster keeping. At 100x50x50 it hits the minimum welfare guidelines for both hamsters and gerbils and I’ve been fostering both species in it for a year. PROs: - Meets ethical guidelines for ALL species of hamsters. (100x50x50) - also meets ethical guidelines for gerbils too, so can be used for both species.(100x40x40) - Allows for deep bedding which pleases both types of rodents - The front opening is great for taming because it allows the animals to come up to it and climb onto you, and allows you to avoid reaching down to it. - Allows a lot of space for sprays, hides, accessories and a proper sized wheel. - Not super heavy like a tank. CONS: - the front opening can become obsolete with gerbils, as they typically like creating deeper burrows which means it’d become blocked off. - The plastic does bow out at the front due to flap, which makes it feel a bit more flimsy - it meets the MINIMUM ethical guidelines, which with trickier hams like female Syrians doesn’t guarantee they’ll be happy in it. Going for a bigger 120cm long cage and using sea grass matts or cardboard to block off the sides to allow for a deep bedding might be a better choice. Overall, a great option for hamster and gerbil owners

Love it!
Wonderful cage. Tall, good for providing lots of bedding for burrowing. The cage doesn't rattle when my hamster runs on her silent wheel. If you can afford it, definitely go for the bigger size if you want to fill it with many things. No bars so prevents climbing and bar biting. The clips for the door are a little hard to get on, but very sturdy once you do.

So so impressed, best cage I've seen or used
So so impressed with this cage after needing an upgrade for our Syrian hamster. She loves it. Pros: - Looks amazing, modern, clean, simplistic. Large transparent sides make viewing your fluffy friend from every angle easy! - Large size (we got 1m wide one) suitable for Syrian hamster with lots of running space and space to put different accessories and tubes. - Easy to put together, quick too. - Great materials. The sides are plastic which come with plastic covers on them both sides so you peel those off before putting everything together and it looks great. The corners and top are metal, really sturdy and solid. The sides will move a bit if you press on them once put together but that's just the bendiness of the plastic, it still very much stays together and stays put, no way a hamster could escape. - Ventilation is good. The whole top of the cage has ventilation as well as the short-end sides. - Easy to access. The whole top lifts up for easy access and cleaning as well as a large opening on the side which closes securely with turnable lock mechanisms. The top has no lock but it is very heavy and out of reach. The side opening is super useful and large. Nothing worse than those tiny openings on some cages and you have to do some arm gymnastics to get to your fluffy friend! - Arrived quickly. The first package didn't arrive and we got a refund so we ordered it again and it came the next day without issue. - Super customisable. The large size of the cage means you can design it however you like. Also the sides being plastic means you can add deeper layers of bedding for digging. Cons: - Bit expensive. I'm rather happy spending the money now I know how much I'm impressed with the cage. Though if you're on a tight budget it is what I'd consider a luxury priced cage. - The protective stickers that come on each side of the plastic can be a bit tricky to peel off. It's like trying to find the end of a roll of sellotape but harder. We spent a good while trying to get one off in particular! I promise every section has a peel off piece just keep picking at it and you'll get it eventually! - The instructions that come with it are outdated. We were already warned on another person's review about this so were ready for it but for everyone else be warned the instructions mention a few parts like specific screws or instructions steps that aren't needed anymore since I think they've upgraded the cage a little bit since the instructions were written. For example the instructions mentioned putting together the front panel which has the front opening section but that was already put together when it arrived. So if it mentions a few screws or steps that don't make sense, just use common sense and move on! It's easy enough to figure out with the rest of the instructions but it would be good to update the instructions to prevent confusion. The instructions are clearly translated directly from another language so again it's mostly common sense. - Is a little heavy due to the metal and it's large so it can be awkward to move around but if there's two of you it's fine. - I originally wanted a cage with tubes but instead I put tubes inside the cage and make little tube runs for her. - You shouldn't put cages in direct sunlight anyway but I'd just be extra careful with cages like this with less ventilation (though still plenty) than cages with bars on every side top to bottom. We live in an apartment that can get very warm in one room so we'll be moving the cage to cooler rooms when that happens especially now in this cage which in all the plastic could get warm quickly. - You'll need a self standing water bottle but we found one easily enough and put it in the corner and also managed to hang the original bottle on the side on the side ventilation holes. But something to consider!
