Easy way to add FireWire connectivity to a Windows 10 desktop ...
I needed Firewire to transfer old video material from some very old video cameras. This plugged into an otherwise ordinary Windows 10 machine and it works just fine. Easily worth the very modest price.

Works well on Windows platforms. Even Windows 11.
Worked great with my windows computer running cubase14 with a older Focusrite pro14 fire wire interface. Will not work with an Apple product running Sequoia or the previous version of iOS.

Card works - cable is junk
PCIe device works properly, but the cable sent is junk and gets you stuck in this connect/disconnect loop. Buy a better cable if you go with this device.

Great card for connecting older video cameras
The card works great in Windows 10 and Ubuntu Linux. No extra driver installs needed and it immediately recognized an older miniDV video camera. However, the cable it came with didn't work right, and the camera would get stuck in a connect-disconnect cycle. Not sure if its a quality issue or a broken cable. Using an old firewire 800 cable worked great.

Absolute garbage - AVOID!
The name of the manufacturer is not listed anywhere on the card or the box, and there is no documentation, which tells you everything you need to know. These cards are the tech equivalent of trash-quality "fast fashion" clothing. You get what you pay for. My first card would not function - fully up to date Windows 11 detected that it was plugged in, but could not detect what it was. It just appeared as "unknown device". Forcing a legacy driver on the device, which should not have been necessary and definitely should have worked, did not work. Returned the card as defective. The replacement card was obviously a return from someone else - the box was torn, the static bag had numerous creases from re-use, and the cable was missing. I didn't feel comfortable putting this one in my PC, so I returned it as well. I drove down to my local big box computer parts store, bought a name brand card for 3x the cost, and it worked first try. Judging by other reviews, whether or not you get a functioning card is a total crapshoot. Save yourself the frustration and find a better option.

Great pci-express Fire Wire 1394 card
Easy installation, Windows 11 automatically recognized and installed the proper drivers.

Work, I used that to import HDV format (footage from Sony A1u)
Used to import data from al old camera (so compatible with Sony a1u / HDV format - as long as you have a 4-pin to 6-pin Firewire cable). Worked as is should have; however I noticed a few dropped frame; some where recorded as such, other caused by the import (did not happened again on second try). I did not try to use the provided cable as other mentioned they had issues with that. I used an old one I had laying around. Because that camera uses the HDV format I could not use "WinDV", but I was able to import using the "HDVSplit" software (but if you want to see the footage on your PC while it is being imported, you have to jump thru a few hoops) -- search for this on VideoHelp.com to get more info. Imported hours successfully using that card and the software above (HDVSplit) on Windows 11.

Works great with Linux
Works straight out of the box with up-to-date Linux, no extra configuration required. I plugged the digital video player into this card with a firewire cable, and used dvgrab to import old digital video tapes. It even works in an external thunderbolt PCIe enclosure.

This works with the firewire port on my canon video camera and win 11 desktop. The included cable did not work but al alternate cable did work.

Unfortunately this does not work in my PC. It is not recognised in Device Manager. Driver update did not help. I have given it 3 stars as it looks well made, and must surely work in some set-ups, but not mine.

It did not work at first. Spent far too much time troubleshooting Windows 11 drivers etc. The last thing to try before shipping it back was the cable. Fortunately, I had another cable as the one that was sent was doa. There was no obvious damage. After that, the device worked exactly as I had hoped.
