Worked right out of the box, pure plug and play. I unboxed it, didn't even look at the instructions, plugged it into the USB port on my Windows 11 laptop and it immediately connected and started playing a DVD I used for testing it. It does require that you have a video player app on your computer - I use the free version of VLC Media Player - but otherwise it works great. It got enough power from my laptop thru the USB port so I did not need to connect extra power. I also have not yet tried the Write function to confirm its ease of use (I plan to burn some music disks to use in my portable CD player,),so I cannot comment on that. It came with a separate "C" connector for power, if needed. I'm very happy, good price, good performance. Very light weight and easy to store in its original box.

This drive is very easy to install and use, and it works perfectly. The only thing I didn't like about it is that the power cord is very short. It is clearly designed just for laptops, but I needed it for a desktop computer. In my case, I was able to locate it on top of the computer, and I found a USB port that was close enough to plug it in, but I would have liked the cord to be a bit longer. I suppose I could have gotten an extension cord for it, but I would have just liked to see the cord be a little bit longer. It lost one star for that reason, but other than that, it is a very good optical drive.

Disk drive arrived with a short non attached USB A to C cable. Permanently attached is a USB 3A / C cable. This connects to the computing device (PC, Mac, laptop). The transfer / power cable is extremely short. Worked OK for the laptop, but would not work in my PC use. My PC (Minis Forum) is mounted behind my monitor making termination very difficult. I purchased a AINOPE USB C Extension Cable 6.6FT, 20Gbps/240W USB3.2 Type C Extender Cord to resolve this issue. Works like a charm. I have a clear desk, with the DVD drive now sitting on the monitor shelve where I can connect to my PC or my laptop without problem. I had 10 old DVD's of images that were being stored as backup media, but had no way to retrieve the data till now. I was able to transfer the images to another media, thanks to the drive and the cable. Reading a DVD with 2.6 GB of data, I was able to complete the transfer of 35753 files to my laptop with a Crucial BX500 2TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5-Inch Internal SSD in 61 minutes. The additional ports for the USB hub show up in explorer but I have not tested the capabilities of the hub. All in all I am well pleased with the results from the DVD drive, extension cable and the SSD.

Was finally able to see old "movies" I made of family photos and videos from trips to birthdays. Nice product. It was light weight and doesnt take up space. Very easy to use. Just plug into computer.

Seems to work fine, on Windows 11 there was no setup needed. Plays CD and DVD coded USA region 1. Could not play DVD coded region 2 PAL (did not expect it). Security key works in USB-A port. Have not tested writing/burning yet, thus the 4-star rating. USB-C port on drive is for charging only. An additional adapter cable (USB-A-male to USB-C-male) is included, not shown in photo. Did not test it, may be for charging only. Item matches photos in the description - the accessory items shown are not included. They are shown as example of items that might be used with the hub. The TF and SD ports cannot be used at the same time.

Works well so far with HP laptop. Not noisy

Love it and with Roku on all my tvs you can cast a movie from disk to any tv you choose
