Amazing value and dead simple to use
Great little boards and incredible value for the money. Perfect for ESPHome. Dead bug it or solder onto a protoboard with the castellated pads. I didn’t realize it had a built-in battery circuit, have not messed around with that but I intend to try it out sometime. No temp wire makes me nervous though. Can’t get easier to program and flash than ESPHome builder- Claude code can just spit out the yaml you need and you’re up and running in seconds. Comes with little WiFi antennas but I actually found the reception isn’t too bad without it.

Powerful Little Board for IoT and AI Projects!
The Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32 S3 Sense is an excellent compact board packed with features. Built-in Wi-Fi and BLE 5.0 make connectivity seamless, and the OV2640 camera plus digital microphone open up lots of possibilities for vision and audio-based projects. Having both 8MB PSRAM and 8MB Flash is a huge advantage for running more complex applications, including embedded ML. I really like the small form factor—it’s easy to integrate into IoT projects—and the fact that it supports battery charging makes it super practical for portable solutions. The interfaces are rich and well-documented, so getting started was smooth. Overall, this is a very capable and affordable development board for IoT, AI, and edge ML experiments. Highly recommended for makers, hobbyists, and developers!

they are really small and battery life is outstanding. i would certainly rebuy these.
These were something of a chore to flash, but once you figure it out, they function great. they are really small and battery life is outstanding. i would certainly rebuy these.

Easy, convenient, cheap, and fun!
Worked extremely well for me. It does run a little hot but is a fun device to fiddle with and will, hopefully, be the basis for a few projects of mine.

Nice, Small Form Factor, WiFi & Bluetooth microprocessor
Thought I'd give these a try for a Low Power Battery Operated WiFi Project. They have 11 Inputs, 4 can be assigned for Analog Inputs, I2C Communications (as well as other Comm options) and Digital I/O. The Analog Inputs caught my attention as the Low Power Battery Operated System I was designing required at least 2 Analog Inputs, one for the Sensor and the other for monitoring Battery Voltage. (The WEMOS R1 Di Mini has only one Analog Input). The Breadboard design worked very well, however I was able to locate I2C Communication Sensors that eliminated the need for Analog Inputs. Therefore, these units have been placed in my inventory awaiting a suitable application. Pros: 1-Appear to be well built 2-Small Form factor 3-Low Power Settings available 4-Built-in Li-Ion 18650 Battery Charger with Protection Circuit (I have not tested as yet) 5-External Antenna allows easy placement in enclosure 6-Fast Processor Clock 7- Built-in WiFi & Bluetooth 8-Check "seeed studio" ESP32C3 Datasheet for full details Cons: 1-The external WiFi Antenna could also be considered a negative, depending upon application.

A tiny enhancement needed
Great little board! An on board antenna would have made it smaller and stand alone chip! :)

Device gets very hot; GPIOs & BLE don't work
I bought this development board to incorporate into a wireless project utilizing both BLE and ESP-NOW. After unpacking the board and attaching the antenna, I connected it to my computer and attempted to upload my BLE sketch that I tested on another ESP32C3 DevBoard. When this failed, I uploaded the example BLE sketch for the Xiao. The sketch successfully uploaded but the board became almost too hot to touch while running the program. Furthermore, it did not show up when I scanned for it with my phone using the nRF Connect app. I then tried debugging. The example sketch was supposed to change the device name when D0 was pulled to ground by a button press. I attempted this to no avail. First I checked the Serial connection by uploading a Hello World sketch. That ran successfully. I then modified that code to print when the button pin was pulled to ground. It didn’t work. Connecting my multimeter to the button pin was floating at ~100mV even though INPUT_PULLUP was declared in the pinMode(). I repeated this for pins 1-3 and it failed everytime. That is where I gave up and tried to replace it. All Amazon offered was a return. I hope to try it again in the future. SUMMARY: The Bluetooth didn’t work, even with code known to work on another ESP32C3. The device runs very hot. The GPIOs do not function as inputs and remain floating even when INPUT_PULLUP is called. I might have received a rare defective board. Now at ~$17 I’m not willing to pay double the price I originally paid to find out.

For all the RAV out there saying that this is the product to buy I can’t even get 1080 P at 30 frames a second on this device, useless. It’s just a toy, I guess
