Both are brushless and use the 20v batteries. DCF787: one (1) LED, 1500 in/lb torque, and has a variable speed trigger 2800 RPM and 3200 IPM. DCF887: three (3) LED, 1825 in/lb torque, 3 speed switch 1000/2800/3250 RPM. The 887 is one of DeWalt's latest and best (Dec 2019) impact drivers however I've seen it compared to other brands and even DeWalt models and with extreme/continuous use start overheating and smoking. Included batteries I could also use with their tire inflator. Two should be plenty to swap around, and they charge surprisingly fast, I think it was within 30 minutes with the included charger.
