VM30 Wireless Shotgun Microphone with USB-C&3.5mm Output for Camera

I’ve been using the Comica VM40 in real-world scenarios—gym shoots, outdoor content, and desk setups—and overall it’s been a solid mic for a solo creator workflow. The biggest advantage is the 32-bit float recording. It gives you flexibility in post, so you don’t have to stress as much about perfect gain levels while shooting. I also like the internal recording feature—it’s great having a backup in case something goes wrong. In my use, setting the mic around 9–10 gain and the receiver at 12+ gave me consistent, clean audio without constantly adjusting levels. Sound quality is best when the mic is closer to the subject, especially in controlled environments. The different sound profiles help, but mic placement matters more than anything. One thing to note—if you’re shooting outdoors, make sure to use the wind cover. I skipped it once and definitely heard the difference. Also, small detail but important: the receiver record button is easier and faster to use than the one on the mic, especially in bright lighting. I’m not an audio specialist, but as a solo videographer, this mic fits well into a run-and-gun setup. It’s simple, reliable, and gets the job done without overcomplicating things.

This microphone has been a game changer for me. I'm a content creator on YouTube (LoveTribeOverland if you care to look me up.) The difference this microphone has made for me with my outdoor video is tremendous. One of the shots we get, is what I call the "campfire shot" where we are sitting around at the end of the day chatting about the day. Before I added this microphone, it was really hard to hear the three (or more) of us. Most wireless lapel mics only allow for two lapel mics, and that would be too fussy to set up... this microphone solved this problem perfectly. You can hear everyone clearly... even when we talk in lower tones.... seriously perfect... and if there is any breeze at all, the dead cat cuts the wind noise beautifully. We also shoot our food preparation (overlanding videos are really just cooking outdoor videos lol).... usually ASMR style, so capturing every little sound while we are preparing food, is as close to smellivision as it gets... it has made our food prep portions of the video quite a bit more immersive. This microphone LIVES on my video camera now. I was worried about battery life, but on my last trip, we were out 5 days and the battery held up the entire trip. I'm seriously impressed and grateful for such a great piece of equipment... the price I paid was WELL worth it.

The quality of this mic is beyond belief at this price point. I am very happy with its versatility and overall performance. It is well built and the sound quality is great even for professional work. I'm happy.

Amazing mics that pick up a group of 8 people really really clearly. I used them in a large podcast format for a group, around 10ft from the cam. Everything was crystal clear and great EQ. The internal recording was my backkup alongside of the internal 4ch of my Canon C300 MK II. I'm very happy with COMICA and own 2 of the 4ch lavalier systems too. Those two systems were designed to work well together. COMICA had done it RIGHT!!

I'm not an experienced sound guy. I bought this for recording bird calls out in the woods and was torn between shotgun and parabolic mic setups. This kit was reasonably priced and super easy to set up and attach to my camera. I ever recorded some lectures with them. I like the versatility of how to connect the mics, too. I was not particularly impressed with the sound quality. It doesn't seem very sensitive even with the gain all the way up. For example, if I plugged it into my phone to use as the microphone for the Merlin app, it doesn't seem to pick up many more bird calls than the built-in mic. I'm sure the quality of the recordings are probably better, though, but again I'm not an audio engineer or whatever. The "shotgun" directionality functions pretty well, though.

This mic is amazing for the price. Great sound, wireless, and the range is outstanding. Easy setup and battery life lasts forever. Only downside is there is no internal recording and 32 bit float but the safety switch gets the job done. Maybe the next iteration of comica mics will have these features. Highly recommend if you're on a budget or not!

This is one of the best shotgun microphones I've ever used, however after sale support is non existent. I have tried to contact the seller multiple times using multiple methods, and have not received a response. I need to purchase a second transmitter. If they won't respond for an additional item, my guess is technical support will be just as bad.

I purchased the microphone but it didn’t work, customer service was very helpful. Sent a replacement writhing a few days. The new microphone works great. I use it to record/livestream sporting events. I mount it on a 16ft tripod. Sound quality is great, battery life is excellent. I have used it for 5 hours and didn’t lose power. Carrying case is nice and fits in my camera bag. Instructions were clear and wasn’t complicated when setting up.
