Great Tasting Breakfast, light weight & Gluten Free
First time taking dehydrated meals on a long hike and I will always pack Mountain house in the future. We used these for our scouts three day hike in our local mountains and everyone loved them. The Breakfasts taste great and within a few minutes of adding the hot water we had great food. I added a little less water than the instructions said so I wouldn't have any excess liquid and they were perfect. They are also more filling than you would expect for one packet. We were all worried we would be hungry as the scouts were all 14-18 years old and each packet more than fed a single person. Plenty of calories to give you the needed strength after a long hike. They are also light weight so they worked great for our long hike. Most importantly, they taste really good. I am a food lover, so was a bit worried about freeze dried food, but I was pleasantly surprised and found myself excited for the next meal.I highly recommend the Mountain House meals for both your outdoor adventures and also food storage.

Found new way to eat an already good breakfast...
I use about an oz less water than what the meal calls for and allow it to sit for about 15 minutes before eating. I do not like water with my eggs so that tends to cook it exactly as I like it. This is actually a really good breakfast. The ham and peppers re-hydrate perfectly. My daughter discovered a new way to eat it and I know this sounds gross but it is really tasty. Pour in the boiling water stir good and let it stand about 10 minutes, pour in a small single size of Frito's, stir and close the bad for another 5 mins. The corn chips add some additional flavor to the eggs and soak up a more of the water without becoming soggy. She got me to try it this way and now I am hooked..LOL.

Hurricane Matthew approved
Woke up with no electric so I figured why not try this? Fired up my propane stove, heated water, removed the little funky absorber thingie, followed directions and viola! First off, I was impressed!. Plenty food (I couldn't finish off package so I could see this as 1 1/2 - 2 servings. Remember to drain off the excess water (in directions. I did stir/mix it up before and after adding the water. The flavor was really good. The texture was a little weird at first but not as funky as I'd expected. I'd leave it sit a little longer than the directions suggested as mine really got better after it sat a bit longer. I'd surely buy this again for my hurricane stash and for camping/backpacking. I like the idea of getting these meals when on sale for emergencies instead of some of those big pail kits because I can chose only the things I like.

No complaints from an egg snob
I make scrambled eggs on a nearly daily basis so I was not sure what to expect from this... I would have to say that I was pleased with the taste. Make sure you drain the excess water as instructions state. I thought right out of the bag it was fairly good considering it is freeze dried. Not that you would have black pepper, cheese and hot sauce on the trail but adding those made it nearly identical to something I would make at home. This is something that I could definately eat on the trail or during emergencies and not feel like I am "roughing it". My only concern is portion size, the whole bag (2 servings) is only 380 calories. I easily polished off the bag and if I had been hungry then this would not have been enough. So depending on activity level and calorie burn you may have to supplement with additional calories.

Mountain House.... oh, yum
I've never met a Mountain House product I didn't like. Some of them I even love! My son goes hiking, so I spoil him by getting these little packs of breakfast and dinners for him... And I get the #10 cans and make mylar bags of them to take when we go on trips. A coffee maker makes the right amount of water, but it's not boiling so all you do is pour the water in , mix well, seal it then cover it with towels to keep it warm. Let it sit about 5-10 minutes longer to make up for the lower temperature. Breakfast is served!

Mountain House Scrambled Eggs with Ham & Peppers in Pouch
We tested this at home the other day; made as per instructions; I would add just a touch more water and let it set for about ten minutes; we tried it plain and with pace's picante sauce and also Louisiana sauce; it is good! the Ham was a little tough. Be aware that using the pouches is a little different than using the product from the #10 can, eh? There have been times I could have eaten the entire pouch; there is a lot of food in this size pouch but, Mt H. has different size pouches with the same product; pay attention to that; we were testing several Mt H. products that day; I saved the left overs in the zip lock provided pouch at room temperature and ate them later. Even better, but the Ham was still under hydrated. I would buy the cans for my storage program?

Not a fan
Well, you can't win them all. So far we've had really good luck with our tests of the Mountain House meals but this one isn't going to be included in our supply stash. The ham and peppers flavors were right, but the egg texture was closer to wet croutons than eggs and the ham was too chewy. We sampled at the recommended time and decided to stir and let it rest a bit longer but it didn't help. We'll stick with the breakfast skillet instead.

Easy, tasty, and healthy.
Let's face it, freeze-dried eggs are never at the top of anyone's must-eat list, but when you're camping (or, heaven forbid, relying on them for an emergency), you won't do much better than this for the price. I'm not exactly a fan of FDEs, thanks to a number of substandard school cafeterias, but the inclusion of ham and peppers actually transformed a usually bland staple into a very nutritious and satisfying meal. Preparation is easy -- just add boiling water, reseal, and wait a couple of minutes -- and the high nutritive value is right there on the package. (Flavor hint: add some dry parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes to the mix before eating.)Hey, I'd love to bring fresh eggs with me on the trail, but this way I don't have to carry them (AND a pan). I just heat 'em up and eat 'em from the bag. No hassle, no cleanup. I'd give it five stars, but hey, they're still freeze-dried eggs.
