Columbia Men’s Silver Ridge Long-Sleeve Shirt, Moisture Wicking

I was looking for an all around shirt for travel, hiking/outdoor wear, yet something that could be worn to casual bars, restaurants, etc. This shirt fits the bill perfectly. It's stylish and very comfortable and can be worn virtually everywhere. It travels very well, meaning it does not wrinkle at all even after multiple packing and unpacking from the suitcase, and after machine washing/drying. It feel lightweight, yet it is warm enough to wear on cool mornings (40's) with only a light weight jacket and as the day warms, off with the jacket and the shirt is perfect protection from mosquitos, sun, etc. And the sleeves roll up as the picture indicates so you also have a short sleeve shirt, although would not replace a real short sleeve shirt when really warm. I'm 6'1" with a 42" chest and the large size fits perfectly - not snug, yet not sloppy and loose either. Nice length also.I got the gravel color, which I had reservations about when ordering, but was the only color other than white that Amazon had for this price in a size large. However, the color is great. It is kinda medium grey with dark green undertones and is pretty true to the color pictured. Will go very well with about anything - a pretty neutral color.I'm going to buy another one in a different color before this style is discontinued. I'll have to pay a slightly higher price though in another neutral color such as tan. That's the only issue with Columbia. They keep changing styles so if you find something you like, better jump on it. BTW, the feel and fit of this shirt is very similar to the "Platinum" style Columbia had a year or so back, minus the back venting the Platinum had. I like both, but this shirt is more practical since it will also serve as a casual dress shirt.

This is the second Columbia SPF shirt I have purchased. The shirt is simply wonderful for travel-- it weighs next to nothing, and when washed, dries on its own faster than a dryer can dry it (which I do not recommend). The shirt looks nice enough to wear out to dinner, but is designed for active wear while on the trail, bike or just out and about. Some people find the sleeves a bit long-- please note, the sleeves are designed to cover the back of your hand (preventing sunburn) on that side of the shirt, but is cut normally on the underside of the sleeve.The venting and wicking quality of the shirt works perfectly. It keeps me warm enough in the cold, and cool enough in hot weather. What's not to love??I weigh 230 and normally wear an XL, this shirt sizes perfectly at that sizing. I love the ability to roll up the sleeves and button them in the rolled up position. For a care-free, versatile, light, travel-friendly shirt, this one is hard to beat.

My husband has owned two of these shirts for several years, and I just ordered two more. He likes the way they fit, their long tail that stays tucked in, and the way they keep him cool even when standing in the sun.These are the perfect shirt for hiking and camping, and especially for traveling on airplanes. They fold down very small and light in suitcases or backpacks, and don't show massive wrinkles when unpacked. They are easy to wash and dry by hand in a sink or stream, if you're not near a washing machine.These shirts run slightly small, so order one size larger than normal. My husband is athletic and wears a L or XL tapered fit in most men's shirts. I ordered these in an XL and they were a little too snug. I traded them and an XXL fit him well (although he was a little offended that he needed that large of a size).

I'm going to echo the advice I received from another review about the Silver Ridge convertible pants....The fit you want on this item is very much dependent on where you'll be wearing it. If you're going to be active (hiking, all of that), you really REALLY want to order one size up from your normal size. The fit on this, at least for me, is pretty much as expected. But like the pants, this shirt will fit a little tight if you're actually doing those adventurous things that Columbia makes you look like you do. If, on the other hand, you're just looking for a nice, flattering shirt...your normal size will probably be your best bet.The Fossil color is very khaki-like. It's a bit darker in tone than the picture suggests. I found it to be a great match to the gravel color.This design is very intriguing. There are hidden underarm vents to help keep things cook. The button for the sleeve tab is hidden, so it looks nice when the sleeves are unrolled. I particularly like the extra fold in the back collar, so when you put up the collar to protect your neck you have an extra little tab that increases coverage. As for wear...it breathes. It's cool. On a day with a 104 degree heat index, I didn't feel at all stifled or sticky with this shirt on.It's a good shirt. I like it a lot.

This is a really comfy shirt. I live in a hot, dry, and sunny climate and I needed a light work shirt so I can safely spend more time working out of doors. This shirt was exactly what I needed. It is light and well ventilated for a long-sleeve shirt, and the neck comes up just the right amount to block sun from hitting the back of my neck if I have a hat on. I also really appreciate the breathable material stitched into the neck and the armpits on this shirt. The material has proven to be a great help in wicking moisture away and preventing the swampy-ness and chafing I often get with other long-sleeve shirts.The only downsides I can think of to this shirt are - for me at least, the sleeves are just a bit on the long side; and I found the pockets to be a bit of an unusual stitch compared to what I am used to (I use my shirt pockets quite a lot).That said, this has been an excellent shirt so far and I would recommend it!
