Perfect for Vlogging
I ordered this camera to record family outings as well as giving them vlogging commentary. The camera is perfect for this, it has a fold out screen on the rear that can fold out 180 degrees so you can see yourself whilst recording. Watching back my recordings I was immediately struck by how high the frame rate is. As the camera pans slightly every single pixel remains crystal clear. This is excellent for vlogging as you are walking and also especially useful for fast paced action scenes such as sporting events. The auto focus works really well too, the subject remains in clear focus whilst the background is blurred so make the subject stand out. The sound quality also is exceptional, I cannot fault this camera at all. An excellent buy for anyone wanting to start an online video channel.

Much better than last generation ZV1 but still far from perfect
As an Youtuber and content creator, I need a easy to use compact camera but it also need to yield professional grade photos and 4k video results. I had the opportunity to use the Sony ZV1 II for the past 4 weeks and, and I must say, this camera has exceed my expectations. There are a few things which still cause me a lot of frustration but as a Vlog camera which is pocket size and entry level price point it is already very promising. The Lens is now wide enough to be used as a hand held arms length selfie camera, even with super stabilization on and it crop into the footage there is still enough space to cover the background and nice size of my face on screen. The 3 built in mic now is smart and will auto switch depends on what is on the screen view, it works really well when I was out with my family where I was talking behind the camera and my subject in front etc. The audio came out perfect and I did not sound like behind a brick wall like the ZV1 last gen. The 1/4 tripod mount is now on the side and away from the battery door, we can access the SD card and battery with out having to take the camera off the tripod. Touch screen is responsive and the fully flip out screen works well for selfie or doing video at low angles. However, since it use the same battery as the last generation EV1 the operation time per battery is poor. A fully charged battery yield only 40 minutes of record time for me. There is also the issue of overheating while in 4k30 recording mode, flipping out the screen during recording does help but it cuts out at around 40mins which really limits what I can do filming pod cast or longer videos. Switching off stabilization and using 4k24 or reduce res to 1080p will stop the overheating. These happens at 24c temperature of UK and not hot climate. Photos are sharp and focus at video and photo are super fast! Product showcase is what I get the ZV1 for and this camera does it better than anyone else. I will need to find a solution for the low battery life or else this will not be my main camera, it can accept charging via the USBc port so there is hope for me. I will update this review in due course. I hope my review and video is helpful for you. Thank you

Great camera quality, tiny battery
I love the Sony Vlog Camera ZV-1 II. It has won me over with its wider lens, impressive sensor and video capabilities. It’s got smart features via its Bluetooth and wireless connectivity via Sony’s fantastic creators mobile app and the classic high end build quality Sony cameras have a reputation for. It’s not perfect however and certainly not a justified upgrade from the equally impressive original ZV1 camera in my opinion. The biggest drawback is the lacklustre battery life. The ZV-1 II offers a lot of camera and features - and the tiny battery struggles to keep up and is quick to drain. I count myself very lucky if I get near a couple of hours video recording out of a full battery and that’ll only happen if you use it in the most optimum way possible. The build quality is exceptional and the quality of both the photos and videos are top notch, worthy of posting. The LCD touchscreen does feel a little old technology compared to the sensors and software around it admittedly but the benefit is that if you’ve used a digital camera before, you’ll be able to use it instantly. The lens design is super impressive. It features a wide 18mm field of view that really opens up the creative possibilities but having no optical image stabilisation unfortunately means when you engage active stabilisation you’re stuck to a cropped 23mm full frame equivalent, which is a bit of a shame. Video footage makes the 20 megapixel CMOS sensor sing but 4K recordings are limited to 30 frames per second, which is absolutely fine for product showcases but will be restrictive where your in scenarios that every frame counts. The app is good but not as social friendly as it could be for VLogging centred camera. If you’re looking for a digital camera that can genuinely help with your vlogging workflow, the ZV-1 II is certainly a fantastic choice. The Sony Vlog Camera ZV-1 Mark II is a fantastic digital camera that can get the best out of your vlogging setup. Despite a few flaws, I am really impressed and can really recommend it.

A great upgrade from the zv-1 MK1
I already loved the mk1 so jumped at the chance to test the mk2 and it's even better, the first thing is they have moved the tripod mount so I can change the battery and sd card even with this mounted on a tripod, the mk1 I had to remove it from the tripod, this mk2 has the same great image sensor but the biggest difference is this gives 18mm at the wide end which is amazing for vlogging, I would say this is now truly the best vlogging camera out there, the 18mm gives you a wide enough view for two people and plenty of background to show your environment, autofocus on this is also much improved and now has an s&q mode too. Another bonus is all the accessories for my mk1 fit this mk2 so I'm very happy, top marks from me, Sony have really listened to mk1 owners and made the most important upgrades to this mk2, buy with confidence.

Absolutely incredible
The quality of this camera is absolutely insane!! You don't need to be tech savvy to know this is one mean bit of kit. Pictures and videos taken honestly look just as good as if your watching or viewing a 4k TV!! I bake so this will be perfect to vlog my cake decorating and picture taking, not to mention family holidays and even my youngest (with supervision) as she likes to make her own little videos, there is so much you can do with this and I'm still learning the ropes and cannot wait to see the full potential but so far, I am incredibly impressed and definitely reccomend this camera! The build quality is brilliant (not like I expected anything less from Sony mind) and considering the quality aspect and functionality it's definitely worth the money as an investment! 10/10 from us all round.

Great for videos, pretty good for stills
I've tended to have cameras more from Olympus, Panasonic and Fujifilm in recent years but I did have a small, long zoom Sony HX60 for a few years and my brother loves his original RX100, a sort of precursor to this camera. It is clearly very much a video first camera. I'm no vlogger but do take an increasing number of videos, so I was delighted to be able to try this compact little Sony. At the recent Brentford Canal Festival I published 22 still images and 11 videos, all but two taken with my favourite Olympus M10 II with a 24-100mm motorised lens. The other two videos I took with the newly arrived ZV-1 II. They were very good and I'm sure the wind guard will make this my favourite camera for outside videos in future, especially as I've now discovered the ZV-1 II's rather impressive digital zoom. The 18mm wide end is great as none of my other cameras/lenses go wider than 24mm. But the 50mm long end was feeling ever so limiting until I discovered the digital zoom option. 100mm is fine for the long end. I don't know how it works but the 100mm version of an image is the same as the 50mm one, at 5472x3648px, and is impressively clear. It must do some sort of resampling? I haven't yet tried hooking it up wirelessly, although I do find that useful with other cameras. To get still images onto my PC I just copy them from the SD card then reformat it in the camera. To get videos off is, weirdly, more complex. Unlike the other manufacturers Sony hides videos very effectively. They are not in DCIM but in PRIVATE, M4ROOT, CLIP! I remember cursing my HX60 when I unpacked still images, forgot that I'd taken a video clip a few days earlier and formatted the card. The menu system is also quite daunting, so much lurking there. For example when I finally found Format (hidden under Camera, Media), Format just leads you into yet another sub menu with a choice of Format or Quick format. As a full format is almost instant (on a 64GB SDXC card) that is so silly. Another vary strange 'feature' of the camera is that Sony has failed to provide any image stabilisation for still photos. That alone merits the deduction of a star. Video first is fine, but not stills crippled. They also failed to provide a wrist strap, which I had to procure myself - it would be awful to drop such an expensive littel camera. But leaving out the flash is fine - I only ever use it for fill flash and anyway Photoshop Elements is pretty good for lighting adjustments. Now for some good stuff. The articulated touch screen is lovely and can be closed with the glass on the inside for travelling. When taking photos in low light the camera makes pretty sensible choices. It will go up to ISO6400 to avoid sending the shutter slower than 1/80 and if you open the lens to its full F1.8 aperture you get pretty sharp images. So the videos are good, the lack of stabilisation for still images a strange error and it will take me quite a while getting to grips with all the options. I hope to add to this review once I have used the ZV-1M2 for far longer. I expect it will become my usual option for videos but used for stills only when its small size is a real benefit. Update, a week later: I've just upped my rating to 5* from 4. I had thought that no image stabilisation for stills would be a problem. But I've found that the camera makes sensible shutter speed choices and my still images have not suffered from camera shake at all. Yesterday I took a great shot of our little grandchildren rqacing round a jet engine in the Science Museum in low light. Even at 100mm (with digital zoom turned on) it's been fine. So it's now my main camera for videos and when I want a compact camera to take out and about. The 1" sensor really helps for those situations.

Good. But still not great
Battery life is terrible. Overheated and shut off on a 20 minute video shoot. It's not very ergonomic to hold. And did I mention the awful Battery life? Picture and video quality is the best iv seen for a straight out the box vlogging cam. Good settings for minimal post editing. Sound is good too.
