The Devastation mechanic in this expansion makes this great game even more challenging and fun.

I really think that this is very good small box expansion for EH. It adds a lot of new stuff - not only monsters, gates and horrible conditions, now you need to worry that the cities also can be destroyed. If all of the cities get destroyed then you also lose the game. Have to mention that cities which are in ruins will have special new encounters too. I just love the dynamics which it adds to already difficult game and makes it even more challenging. Very good small box expansion! And then of course all of the usual stuff in small box expansion which I don't need to explain - new Ancient One, investigators, more cards for different encounter decks, more assets, unique assets, relics, spells, conditions, more expeditions and new prelude cards. Definitely worth buying. Couldn't imagine my game play without this nice expansion.

A great addition to the main game If you thought the game eldritch horror was too easy then this is for you as it adds new and exciting ways to loose with its devastation cards and super evil old one New and powerful asset cards help balance it but man it was mean to me on my first try through Loved it though

More good stuff for Eldritch

Think Fantasy Flight are no longer making much effort with their expansions for this game. Interesting idea, could have been so neat, but woefully lacking in imagination at the design stage. I find it hard to resist the impression that the company are now just milking loyal customers. A great shame, because many of the small box expansions have been fantastic.

This was the second expansion that I bought for Eldritch Horror after Forsaken Lore, so I definitely skipped a few expansions along the way. I really liked the idea of an expansion that added the destruction of cities to the game board. In addition to 4 new investigators and 1 new ancient one, this expansion adds a handful of cards to each of the base game's decks, and introduces two new decks in the form of destruction cards and destroyed city encounter cards. Despite being the seventh expansion for Eldritch Horror, I'm happy to say that this expansion works very well on its own without needing the content from other expansions. If you just own the base game and want to skip right to this expansion, I don't think you'd have any problem at all doing so. In order to fully take advantage of this expansion, you'll need to either play using the new ancient one or use a certain prelude card. These ensure that you'll periodically draw and resolve destruction cards as the game progresses. Most of these cards simply instruct you to destroy a certain major city, placing a destruction token on that space. From then, this space is no longer treated as a city space and instead investigators will have special destroyed city encounters on that space. These encounters range from enormously beneficial to extremely dangerous, and I appreciate the addition of a new encounter deck with so much variety. If you don't play with the new ancient one or prelude card, these destruction cards will only show up occasionally. However, because there is always a chance of them appearing, you'll always need to break out the new decks of cards and tokens when you play Eldritch Horror from now on. This is a bit of a pain since Eldritch Horror already has a ton of cards and components. These destruction cards appear very rarely in normal games of EH; I've played three games without the new ancient one and have only had to draw one destruction card. You could argue that this is a good thing since it prevents the destruction from getting too routine but it would be nice if they showed up just a bit more often without having to use the new ancient one or prelude card. Still, the new components in this set are pretty great. I really like all four of the new investigators and I'll never forget using the new gattling gun to mow down a horde of zombies in Australia. If you're looking to pick up an expansion for Eldritch Horror, this is one of the first I'd recommend after Forsaken Lore.

It relatively increases the difficulty of the game through disaster mechanism which basically replaces city encounters with devastation encounters. But you're gonna love it if you're like adrenaline pumping storylines.

El nuevo elemento que aporta esta expansión son los desastres, lo cual afecta a los investigadores en el tablero y causa que las distintas ciudades puedan ser destruidas. En una ciudad destruida se tiene un nuevo tipo de encuentro llamado de devastación, los cuáles son encuentros un tanto complejos donde se necesitan hacer más de una prueba. Al igual que las demás expansiones pequeñas añade un antiguo, unos cuántos monstruos y 4 investigadores nuevos. El antiguo sirve para disfrutar al máximo del nuevo elemento que aporta la expansión. Como otras expansiones, también agrega más cartas de encuentro, objetos y hechizos al juego básico. Es aquí donde recomiendo primero obtener la expansión Eldritch Horror: Forsaken Lore ya que esta, además, agrega más misterios y encuentros para los antiguos del juego base, lo cuál aumenta en gran medida la rejugabilidad de los primeros antiguos. De igual manera esta sigue siendo una muy buena opción como primera expansión ya que las cartas de desastre y devastación son de los elementos más interesantes que ha agregado alguna expansión. Recomiendo esta expansión para los que les gusta mucho el juego y quieran darle más variedad o un segundo aire al juego aún teniendo ya la expansión Forsaken Lore.
