Immediately after I ordered this someone else gave me one for free with a docking station so I returned this one... but these square readers are great. I use them at all of my shows and are easy to use. So much better than the old plug in swipe ones.

This worked great at my vendor fair. Only have to make sure you are able to connect to the internet for payments to be able to process. Besides having internet connectivity issues, taking payments on the square reader was quick, easy, and straight to the point.

After reading the reviews I was a little hesitant to purchase, but I need it for my business. Very easy to pair to my phone and use.

Amazing! I already had the app and was having trouble with the tap to phone feature this weekend. I bought this yesterday after our event and it arrived this afternoon. I was able to connect it via bluetooth right away. It automatically did an update (took 5 minutes) and was ready to go. I did 3 $1.00 purchases to test it. I kept my wallet nearby to see if it picked up any other cards close by as some reviewers had trouble and it did not. Now I do have and RFID wallet so I don't know if that helps. But the first purchase i just tapped my card to the reader and it didn't pick up the card until it actually touched the reader, awesome went through in seconds. the second purchase I put the card in the reader and within seconds it read the card and done. Third time i slowly went to the reader to tap to make sure it didn't pick it up and if it did from what distance and nope didn't charge the card until it touched the reader. Awesome! This is going to make my life so much easier and pleasant for me and my customers! I love it. It's small enough to fit in a pocket but the design and quality is exceptional. I will keep it in the box until I use it until I get a case for it. I have another event Saturday and Sunday and I can't wait to use it! So happy right now!

Community service announcement – do not go 2 years between connecting to your Square Readers. They will never connect again, and the only solution is to send them to the landfill and to pay Square for new ones. My situation – I bought 2 Square Readers in April 2024, on behalf of my community garden for use at their annual plant sale. They connected and worked without issue – we were very pleased. Unfortunately, last year's plant sale was cancelled. We pulled them out of the box this year, and recharged them without issue, but they refused to connect... Spent 4 hours troubleshooting – deleting Bluetooth caches, reinstalling apps, factory resetting, trying with another account and with 3 other phones, but they flat out refused to connect. Bought a new one to test, and it connected instantly. So totally a reader issue. They were used once; for us, that was their lifespan. Of course, they're out of warranty. Spoke to a couple support agents, and was told that Square Readers have a limited lifespan, and that "they can stop working due to lack of use"(!) And that "they can last indefinitely with proper use", but that "not using the reader for a long time can affect the life for the reader". Apparently, that includes a maximum period between connection. How long? Who knows, it's not documented anywhere. But obviously 2 years is too long. I could understand if one reader failed for some random reason, but two out of two isn't a coincidence. Be warned.

Worked great at first but suddenly stopped working after 2 months. It wouldn't pair with any device. Took a charge, blinkrd all the correct lights but wouldn't pair. I tried Square help and none of the fixes worked. Used a search engine to finally find a fix. If this happens to you, press and hold the power button until all lights go off, about 20 seconds. Wait a minute and turn it back on. Mine was able to pair with my phone again, it did an update and started working again. Overall it works great most of the time, but failing mid market like that is scary.
