Really good book. Has everything you need. Don't overthink it and definitely use this one

An excellent book for those who wish to become proficient in both reading and writing kanji.

The best resource for learning kanji in my opinion. The only thing - it’s not split into JLPT levels, so aimed more at people who just want to learn kanji regardless of exams. Preparing for JLPT based on this would only really be suitable for N2-N1. However, the resource itself is so well-organised and carefully thought through, that my highest regard goes to the author.

This book is my first attempt at learning the kanji. It is easy to use with clearly defined tables for each character, with four on each page. This table contains all the information you need to learn that kanji. You will need to know your Hiragana and Katakana as there are no tables for these included with the book. Luckily, I have another book that have these in for moments when I get a blank moment with the transliteration from kanji to Hiragana. My knowledge has increased greatly with this book, and I am surprised how much I can recognise after only a month's work. Cannot fault this book in the slightest. If you're willing to put the time and effort in, this WILL teach you kanji.

Im currently borrowing (permanently) my cousins copy of this book. Its good and although Ive not had much time to sit down and worth through it, I like the layout and can definitely see how useful it is. As of late 2018 this book is currently out of print, emailing the author brought me no joy, not even a response, Several long conversations with amazon about their inability to fulfil my order (still an open order after ordering it back on 21st October 2018) have got me no where. A family member working in a well known bookshop was the one who finally informed me of the fact this is now out of print. As of the time of writing this review 19th July 2019 there are some sellers looking to make a quick buck from those of us desperate to invest in learning a new language. The retail price of this book written on the cover is $34.00 US. and it retailed for around the same amount here in the UK even cheaper before amazon realised they had no stock (£25.85). So I hardly think trying to flog a used copy for £850.99 is fair (my return flight to Japan cost less than that from the UK). Anyone wanting a copy of this book is advised to look elsewhere unless someone lists this nearer the value. A great book but there are other alternatives too.

For anyone serious about learning kanji, this is THE place to go. The way the Green Book, the Learner's Dictionary and the blue Kanji Learner's Course work together with the Reading Sets is a thing of beauty and makes learning enjoyable while making you feel that you are getting somewhere at all times. A superhuman amount of work has gone into this and huge congratulations and a massive, massive thank you are due to the author.

I highly recommend this book! As a self studier, I found it quite difficult to know where to start with kanji and became overwhelmed. I stumbled upon this book and I'm glad I bought it - it provides clear structure for learning the kanji and easy to remember mnemonics.

Delivered really quick! But it is pretty heavy! Can't wait to get cracking
