High quality and very heavy works great but slow because the gearing is very low to allow you to lift very heavy loads with very little work.

Only had a pair of these for a week. They are geared high which means they move up slowly... very slowly. Sometimes this is good...sometime it is like "is the thing working". Would buy again.

I haven't used a chain hoist since I was a kid. This one work smoother than the ones that I used way back then. I bought the 1 ton unit with 20' of chain. That's a LOT of chain. I forgot how slowly these things run. It's about a 30 to 1 ratio I think, so you'll be pulling about 600' on the control chain to raise the load 20'. That gets old fast, but this doesn't require AC power and it's pretty easy to move. Another thing to keep in mind is that the lift chain is almost drippy oily with black oil. That's probably why it's so smooth. But it'll get black oil stain on anything it touches, and as it lifts the chain comes down on your load, so watch that. Some folks seem to have trouble with it being jammed on delivery. It comes fully extended on delivery, or at least mine did. So the little tiny chain loop on the end should get bigger as the chain is pulled back up. Slowly work the control chain until you get it moving the right way, and do not expect this to work properly in any position except vertical. They need the weight of the chain to keep the gears engaged. They ALL work like this, and have for the 30+ maybe 100+ years that people having been using this type of hoist.

Worked for what I needed to lift a heavy plant into a tree. As stated in other reviews the chains are a bit greasy so wear gloves when using.

I bought this hoist to lift cemetery stone for a team restoring Civil War era grave markers. It moves slow and doesn't require shifting from RAISE to LOWER like a come-along. Therefore, I think it is the safest choice for this type of work. Prefect size and capacity for the job at a reasonable price.

This small, lightweight chain hoist is awesome. It ain’t pretty. It doesn’t smell good. But if you need something lifted - this the absolute weapon to own. It easily handled my large zero turn mower like it was weightless. It was delivered early and the price was amazing…

Très bien, pour un prix raisonnable. C'est impressionnant cette mécanique, on soulève très lourd très facilement et surtout doucement, sans à-coup, à la montée comme à la descente. C'est fluide. La longueur de chaîne est top. Sur une des photos le palan est fixé à 5m de haut. Je ne l'ai pas encore testé avec une charge vraiment lourde proche de la tonne annoncée. Le palan n'est pas non plus trop lourd à porter, et pour l'accrocher en hauteur, ça compte.
