To be certified Organic it has to be GMO free. This product is certified Organic - I would not know if there are any loopholes to that so I’m trusting the Organic certification.

Can you eat these right out of the bag or do they need to be washed?

You can eat them straight out the bag. No washing needed.

Is there a chemical in this product that is banned in California?

Because of past sudden invasions of critters that devastated California crops, (including Mediterranean fruit flies, Oriental Fruit Flies Asian Citrus Psyllids,) there is a ban on bringing most fruit into the state. (Critter eggs could come with the fruit, I think.)
