What a difference 20+ years make
I bought this because my 20 year old LA CROSSE weather station finally stopped working. I should say the outside transmitter stopped working the rest still works fine. I’ve seldom even had to replace the batteries, it just kept working. So with such a good unit I stayed with the same company. They have improved them a lot over the years including the size. This unit is much bigger and much easier to read. I’m now old and bigger is better, I don’t even need my glasses to read it. It’s also much easier to setup and sets most things by itself. Just don’t be impatient because some things take time for it to adjust the readings all this is covered in the instructions. This doesn’t have a background light like my old one but I never used it anyway. I also like the fact that there’s no lighted anything because I keep it in my bedroom and like it dark. The face is just a LCD screen and easy to see and read. Once the adjustments are made it’s very accurate just be patient, the pressure is adjustable but if you wait for self adjustment it can take 2 weeks for it to zero in. If this one lasts 20 years it will be my last one since I’m 75.

Excellent weather station
I am totally pleased with my purchase of this weather station, it works great and the atomic clock is great for time keeping.

…but it’s accurate…
I really like this now that I’ve got it figured out. The time, temp, and humidity are accurate. It is small but very bold and legible. It is not backlit so you cannot see it in the dark. Now the problem is the barometer which is completely ill designed, though accurate. You must read it from right to left. The pressure is displayed in intervals. The furthest right position is 0 hours - the current time and measurement. You are able to tell if the pressure is increasing or decreasing by reading the curve as a whole with each bar representing the past starting at the right. There is no other plus or minus indication. Poorly conceived and difficult to understand. But accurate.

Very accurate
If you want an easy-to-read, accurate weather station for time, temperature, humidity and pressure that does not need to be plugged in and has great viewing angles, this is it. I'm surprised at the accuracy. This is easy to set up, easy to link with the outdoor unit, and enjoyable to monitor. It even gives you pressure trends over the past 24 hours in 3 hour increments. I also purchased the 925-418 protection shield, which I highly recommend because it comes with four easy mounts and screws. I mounted that under my front porch out of the sun. It took me a little longer because I always pre-drill my holes, but the whole operation from setting up the ladder to putting it away was ten minutes. I set the pressure to a local weather station and the temperature, pressure and humidity have remained almost in lockstep. I've no way to crosscheck the inside humidity but it appears accurate and the temperature is spot on with the HVAC thermostat and a hand-held thermometer I have. None of this is probably different than any other review but I did want to go out of my way to let people know what a good unit this. And I've had no issues with viewing angles on the black and white display. Just be careful where you mount it. If you put this on an outside wall or up high, the inside temperature displayed in that area may be different from what you're experiencing yourself. I just set this up on a shelf. The unit has a lever to hold itself upright on a level surface.

Great product.
The numbers are large and easy to read.

Device works great, but the description of “what’s in the box“ is inaccurate
I have enjoyed LaCrosse products for years, and this advanced wireless weather station is no exception. It works well, easy to set up, and the display is crisp. However, the description of “what’s in the box“ is inaccurate. It states that a power adapter is included. There is no power adapter, and this device runs on batteries only. This should be corrected..

A very practical indoor/outdoor weather station
La Cross 308-1417 We've had a battery powered LCD indoor/outdoor weather station for nearly 20 years. Wanting an upgraded station, we moved the original to the back room. To stay with battery power, the La Cross 308-1417 was perfect a perfect fit. It displays, very clearly, barometric pressure, indoor/outdoor temperature, relative humidity and forecast icons. Setup was simple and quick. Acquisition of outdoor sensor and atomic clock signals took 5 minutes. It is very easy to read all the information from 10 feet away. With simple styling, it looks good on the coffee table. While we haven't had this long enough to evaluate battery life, something to remember (for those who complain about that): Keep the outdoor sensor close by without electronic equipment or metal components between the two. Keep away from a router or other electronic emitting devices. These overwork the transmitter/reciever. Hunting for the sensor and time signals drain the batteries very quickly. Our original station batteries would last for 5 years in the same location. No reason to think this will be less. If you want outlet power (with adapter and cord), a color display or wind and rain gauge, you will pay five to ten times more. But for $35, this is a very practical tradeoff. We've had this for just over 5 years and it still functions. But, it no longer updates for daylight savings time (it's very accurate otherwise). And, the outdoor sensor has started going a little crazy, reporting 10 - 20⁰ high in the daytime (not in the direct sun) but is very accurate at night.

Be aware that Hi/Lo readings get reset at midnight
I have an ancient Oregon Scientific BA928 Weather Clock where the outdoor sensor finally gave up. I ordered this as an inexpensive replacement (for lack of something more similar to a BA928). So far so good. It looks nice and capable. I like the display size and stand. I was aware the outdoor sensor does not have its own LED display. Fine. While reading the instructions and setting up the device, I noticed three things: -If it has an atomic clock, why did I have to set the clock during setup? -Should it not ask for my altitude to determine correct barometric pressure? -The Hi/Lo measurements get reset at midnight (per booklet)? Why? That last one really drops my rating for this product. I'm interested in the hi/lo over a period of months. What was the hottest outdoors this summer. What was the coldest indoors without heating over night. I expected "Recording hi/lo temperature and humidity values" to persist until I decide to reset them or the batteries run out.

Good device
Works great and is easy to read. I especially like knowing indoor and outdoor humidity. The clock shows the day of the week, which, for a retired guy, is good info.

Does the job fine, thanks!

Quality has fallen
I owned a La Crosse for 15+ Years until it failed this summer. Very disappointed with the quality and functionality of the replacement- not a patch on my old La Crosse. They appear to be cutting corners properly to save on costs.

Justo lo más importante es lo que no muestra
Funciona bien para mostrar las condiciones actuales de temperatura y humedad pero no muestra el barómetro ni el pronóstico, que es justo lo más importante
