Can this drum be played like a bodhran? Looking for a vegan-friendly alternative to animal skin bodhran. Thanks for any advice!

There is no bars at the back to hold and id say the skin is tighter.if ure still tempted i think id go for the 14 or even 16 inch.i have 14 inch and def slightly deeper sound and more scope.not a musician myself so sorrt cant be of more help.
