Beyond the Story: 10-Year Record of BTS

The books don't come sealed in plastic like other language versions. My copies were packed bare inside the Amazon shipping box with not even a layer of bubble wrap for protection. Despite that, they were in perfect condition, with no visible transit damages or manufacturing flaws. The book is of very good quality. The hardcover is nice and smooth to the touch, the outer imagery is very pretty, and the inner pages are made of good quality paper, so they don't feel thin and flimsy as your turn them. The font size is a little large for my liking but I suppose that's to make for a more comfortable reading experience for most people. I personally prefer a slightly smaller sized font. Content wise, well the previews prior to release were pretty self-explanatory. If you're a longtime fan, you know what went down over the years. This covers what we know of and more and will have you emotional and in tears one moment, then laughing the smiling the next. Be prepared to have tissues on hand to dab at your eyes and a blanket or your favourite pillow for comfort as you read. You'll relive joyous and painful moments in equal measure. The included pictures don't fill the entirety of the pages they're on the way the Korean version for example does. This doesn't bother me much given that it is a memoir and not a photobook, but some may buy this thinking they're full pics so please be aware. I'm very happy to own this piece of our (BTS & ARMY) shared history and if there's one piece of merch I'd recommend you own as fan (given that you can afford it ofc) it would be this. The boys have been through an incredible journey over the past ten years and this does a pretty good job of recounting that and more. Plus it looks great on a shelf. Get it, you won't regret the purchase. p.s. this was never advertised as including the photocard set so please don't expect it with your order. Only in-store purchases at some B&N locations will receive them, as the photocard set was sent in limited amounts to be given to customers (and you need to ask for it as well because not all branches will just automatically put it in the bag with your purchase). Some international versions of the book do include it however, so do your research if you want the pcs to find out how to get them.

This book is honestly the most well written in format I think I have ever read. Our family are big book lovers and we call ourselves The Nerdy BookClub😂 and really enjoy all genres but we enjoy a good "docu" type or autobiographical book on artists/actors we follow. But this one really sets the standard especially for the 21st tech on using and incorporating the use of QR codes. It has given it such an interactive feel getting to scan one and watch a music video or stage performance or maybe just the members of the group doing a video for their fans or a behind the scenes look at a concert or their fan signings. Whoever it was in their marketing sphere that came up with this concept..KUDOS! You don't have to necessarily be a fan of BTS to enjoy the story of their journey so far..bc it not only gives you an appreciation for all their hard work and struggles but a real glimpse into Korean culture and mindset on various aspects of life in Korea. This is such a heartfelt story that these wonderful young men have gotten to share, literally in their own words, instead of from some hyped up corporate media machine (journalists using opinion/conjecture on who these guys are). Nice to learn about them as individuals as well as share in their bonded journey as a music group. I don't think there are any music artists that work as hard as Kpop artists do. A brutal life for something they have a serious passion to pursue. Lots of respect for all of them. But for BTS and Beyond The Story... Please don't think you have to be a fan to enjoy this book. Very enlightening and educational on Korean culture and the music industry.

I am not ashamed to say I devoured this book in a single day. It was so captivating and so easy to read. The authors did a wonderful job of weaving the band’s chronological history together with the member’s direct quotes and information on the industry and other forces that impacted their trajectory. So much love and care was put into this for ARMY. Please be extremely skeptical of reviews that are negative because the book doesn’t fit whatever narratives kpoppies, antis, solos, stalkers or shippers have dreamed up on their own. The book feels just as honest as the words every Live the guys have gifted us, every Bangtan Bomb chronicling their daily lives, every blog / Weverse post / tweet the members made. People who are mad it’s not some juicy, scandalous tell all seem to forget that one of the main reasons for BTS’ success is their continued AUTHENTICITY, not to mention the continued honesty they have always given to their real fans: ARMY. If you want fanfic, go to ff.net. This book is the real deal and I’m so proud of Namjoon, Seokjin, Yoongi, Hoseok, Jimin, Taehyung and Jung Kook for being willing to give ARMY their story, in their words, while they go through a period of immense change - both personally and professionally. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand why BTS are so loved by ARMY and why ARMY so is so fiercely loyal and deeply protective of the members. It’s an incredible read about seven hard working men, who all wanted different things and had different skills, coming together against all odds to share their voices with the world. It’s inspiring, uplifting, and very much BTS.

I have really enjoyed Beyond the Story. It relies heavily on the interviews the author did with each member. It's at turns uplifting, sad, thought-provoking, funny and touching. I really appreciate that the author gave all members equal importance, and used many quotes from each of them, instead of paraphrasing. The people who translated the book into English have explained their process, also, and they emphasized how hard they worked to keep the sense of the member's comments. I have been a fan of BTS for many years now, and have watched/read/listened to a possibly unhealthy (!) amount of BTS content. Even though I was already familiar with a lot of their history, I still found the perspective the book gives to be valuable. The way it is organized makes it really easy to follow and I know I will refer back to it in the future. If you're someone who only cares about what the members have to say if they validate what YOU want them to think or feel, this book probably isn't for you. But if you want a better understanding of their perspectives, I recommend reading it.

The best book about BTS

I love this book. It really goes into details about the background and beyond the scenes look. It shows us the different thoughts and struggles they had. We kind of knew from following them for many years but it still had stuff we didn't know or could only guess at.

The content of the BTS 10-year record is more comprehensive than any official video documentary already released. It is primarily made up of VERY specific direct quotes from 3 years worth of interviews the writer conducted in order to gather the most accurate and BTS' personal detailed experiences throughout the 10 years since their debut. There is interactive QR codes to view specific music videos and member specific vlogs that the members refer to during their interviews with the writer. Also, some of the QR codes lead to live performances and TV appearances and award show videos. There are also very helpful footnotes throughout the book to explain certain details/references that the average reader might not have knowledge of. There are 7 Chapters (technically) however they break up the chapters into what you might consider sub chapters and eras which flow chronologically from beginning to end. Even someone who has been in the BTS ARMY (their fandom which is also explained in detail in the book) will discover a LOT of extra personal information about each members experiences over the years - that they CANNOT find anywhere else on social media or video documentaries or member vlogs or even the "fan cafe" page. It is a big book and requires a good deal of time dedicated especially if you choose to dive into the QR code links hidden throughout the book. Regardless of how long you have been in the BTS ARMY or if everything is completely new to you and you haven't jumped into full on ARMY mode yet - This book will not disappoint and will enrich your continued journey with BTS and BTS ARMY for all the years to come.
