As a Susan Bates crochet hook user for decades, I always purchased a new one when I lost one or gave one away to a friend. I have always liked their head style as it gave me a nice even stitch. Over the holidays I crocheted a lot and found the standard 5.5” hook base was digging into my palm. In looking into various ergonomic hooks to purchase, I was delighted to find these on Amazon. As soon as I received them, I put the 5 mm one to work right away. The length at 6 1/4 inches was perfect! I have been able to increase my speed because the head is smooth and does not split or snag yarns. The length is perfect and does not dig into my hand at all. I love them and will be purchasing other sizes in the future. I should mention here that these were made in Malaysia. Previous (non-ergonomic) hooks were made in Mexico and China and required much use before the head smoothed out. Susan Bates has a winner here!

I really like these crochet hooks. The yarn just glides over the hook with no snagging. It's almost like they were waxed. The hook catches and holds the yarn very easily. They are lightweight which for me is a big plus. I recommend these hooks with absolutely no hesitation.

Love these. I removed a star only because mine arrived looking like someone had thrown them around the room before delivering them. Quite a testament to the durability of the product, really. The original packaging was extremely sad looking, ripped open and unfortunate. But, due to the weather, these were delayed & I needed them so, keeping as the needles themselves are fine. The hand-feel for long-time or regular crocheters is so wonderful for arthritic hands.

These are my go to gotta have it never be without them crochet hooks. They’re lightweight they’re comfortable. They glide through the yarn perfectly. I just love them.

My favorite hooks

They do the job. I got them because I love the Susan Bates Silvalume hooks but some days I need something with a better handle, so I tried these. I like that these have a longer handle. However, the handle is not that soft. I only gave 3 stars because I'm disappointed in the difference in quality compared to the regular Silvalume hooks. There are scratches on a couple of them. The angles and tips of the hooks are slightly different compared to the Silvalume ones. The flat angled part is kinda rough and not always flat. All of this makes them look cheap to me and I honestly thought they were fakes. There are a few more differences compared to the Silvalume hooks but it's only in appearance and doesn't affect their use. The colors of the ergonomic set are just slightly darker than the Silvalume ones. And the Susan Bates logo is different. Also the 4mm has the Susan Bates logo on the front, which is different than the rest of the set. And I bought an ergonomic 4.5mm separately and the size was also printed on the black handle, but it's not on any of the handles in this set. This doesn't affect how they work and might not bother you, but those inconsistencies in appearance bother me.
