Give your child the tools to become a successful reader with this big collection of titles that target must-know concepts: short vowels, blends, plurals, and more. Each title features clear photos, just-right decodable text, and lively real-world topics such as pets, frogs, bugs, friendship, trucks, weather, and so many more. Includes a caregiver guide and mini-workbook to reinforce learning. Review: My students are building skills and enjoying these decodable readers. - These nonfiction books have engaging pictures of animals, children and scenery. My students are gaining fluency and enjoying them each time they read with me. I am in the process of building my inventory so that I can match my lesson content to these decodable texts to build skills. My goal here is to teach the phonics lesson in a multi-sensory fashion and then use these readers to practice the syllable type I taught. Eventually my students will build automaticity and transfer their learning to other texts. Review: Great for soft vowels. Will be buying Set 2, 3 and 4 as my little reader(s) progress. - I bought this Set I, K-2nd grade nonfiction book set. There are 8 pages per book. The inner back cover lists the short vowel stressed in that book as well as what are labeled "decodable words," a high frequecy word (such as "the"), and a stretch word. I bought this set for a child I babysit who will be turning 5 in August. I am so excited to help her learn to read, and this set will be great when we "play school" and she is the teacher. The colored pictures are clear and engaging. Topics include bugs, birds, trucks, hens, cats, bats, crabs, pigs, foxes, vets, dogs, frogs, ants, and topics such as moods, skills kids have, and more. As far as recommended age, I would say 3 to 4 year olds would enjoy having this read to them and looking at the pictures, and readers from K to 2nd grade would enjoy these. Very happy with purchase!

Nonfiction Beginning Readers
These have been so helpful as my son has been learning to read. They mirror the way he is taught to read in class so he understands the literacy concepts that are reinforced in each text. The books build upon each other so the reader continues to use what they've previously learned to decode the text. We have picked one out each evening for my son to read aloud and he feels very proud of himself at completion. I'm an elementary school librarian and am aware that boys tend to gravitate toward nonfiction so I'm so pleased we were able to find beginning readers of interest. We have now bought the second set and are working our way through it as well. These sets are well-worth the money.

Good for Introducing Skills
These phonics readers interesting and are great to supplement systematic phonics instruction. They are more instructional/introductory than for practicing a new sound skill on a variety of books right away.

Best decodables so fsr
These decodable texts are the best ones I have found so far. They are truly decodable and are not contrived as many other decodable texts are. I will be purchasing more/others of this set.

Great beginning books
My son went from not reading to confidently reading because of these books! My son loves these books. He has always been Interested in real animals verses fictional stories, therefore these books were a great way to get him interested. They follow a great sequence of learning to read and are easy enough for a young child to read. My six year old begs to read them every night!
