I like many folks here think very highly of Steelie products. So much so that when I need to travel, I feel out of sorts when I have to drive a rental car. While I'm not comfortable with the level of dependency I've built up with this brand, imagine my sheer joy when Steelie launched a portable mount that I could move from car to car. This vent mount is perfect for that being that it's portable, sturdy, and the clamp works great. However- I, like others, noticed that my phone was too heavy to stay in position. Bumps in the road would cause it to shift in position. Others here are concerned about the magnet not being strong enough to hold up the phone. I challenged this presumption because I believe the magnet is plenty strong for this purpose, otherwise the phone would have fallen off. Instead, I came to the hypothesis that Steelie is SO GOOD, that the ball mount is just too polished and therefore lacks friction. SOLUTION: I bought a roll of clear gift wrapping tape and put a piece of tape over the ball, therefore increasing the friction quotient just slightly while not impacting the connectivity of the magnet. No more sliding! Even when I hit bumps in the road, it stays perfectly in place. Perhaps in the future Steelie can include a small 3M dot or something to address this issue. But in the meantime, this will do. Great product, will buy again and again. Because I need to.

I love this thing! I wish I had found it sooner. I’ve wasted so much money on other products looking for the right one when this was it all along! I chose the vent style since I already have a dash style. It was supposed to replace the phone mount however with the super magnetic backer for my phone, I love the adjustability, I can move it from vehicle to vehicle with ease. This is a must get! Not to mention the value! and magnet strength!

I have a Galaxy S9 with a Defender case, and it seems to be a bit too heavy for the mount. The phone hangs a bit low despite mounting the adhesive exactly to spec. The phone "sways" around while driving as the magnet doesn't hold it tight, but instead allows for full range of motion. In other words, be it's you wanted to use the mount in landscape instead of portrait, it would probably just flip to portrait as soon as you took your first turn. However, I'm a huge fan of the mounting mechanism; very easy and very effective. I just wished the design had been revised for our modern, super-heavy phones

This is a great product! I have an Apple iPhone 6 Plus and an Apple iPad Air, this let me mount either in my truck. If you are concerned about this not gripping your vent louver, let me put your mind at ease. This product will hold as advertised. The jaws are made with a rubber that grabs and holds until you flip the quality lever to release. This is a great product because it is easy to move from one vehicle to another or to position it in a different area or vent. It also allow you to position your phone or even tablet in portrait or landscape just by turning. I have shared this and other Nite Ize Steelie Mount kits with my friends and they still are my friends. I have had a few other car mount kits, they are junk when compared with Nite Ize Mount kits. And to top it off, the Nite Ize Steelie Mount kit they looks great, not a goofy or clumsy plastic wobbly arm. Get this product like so many of my friends have and you will be only wishing you had done it sooner. For your tablet get the stronger Nite Ize STSM-11-R7 Nite Ize Steelie Magnetic Phone Socket - Mount.

The way this attaches to the vent is not very secure. It is simply a compression of two tabs around one vent fin. The vent is still free to move which means it naturally slumps downward due to the weight of the phone mount. The materials are all really nice. Good quality plastic and metal parts. But that doesn't matter if it can't stay in place. And the magnet is not very strong. My phone wants to rotate on the metal ball and not stay put. I also bought the LiSEN vent mount and that is much better.

This item really works. The magnet is very strong holding . Got this as i have a loopy case (brand name) and had a hard time finding anything that would work with this case and this one works! I have a Samsung Galaxy S9+ so not a small phone but was able to handle the weight of the phone just fine. Ordered a extra magnet to put on the back of my husbands I phone case which is a leather foldable cover that way he is able to use the mount in my car . This is a win win for both of us! I highly recommend especially for any of you Loopy case lovers out there!

J'ai une audi a3 et acheté le support pour ventilation (j'en ai déjà 'de base' 2 pour ma tablette) mais le bras de levier était trop important et les petites ailettes de la ventilation se détachaient ... en finale j'ai fais une petite pièce en "L" avec une imprimante 3d pour coller au dessus de la ventilation et récupéré la boule du support Nite Ize et ça marche nickel avec du double face 3M vhb

I've had this set up in my car for years and love it so so much! Never failed. Strong. Rotates easily. Not obnoxious looking when not in use. I love the fact that I can just keep the flat metal sticky on my phone case (barely noticeable) and the rest stays in the car for quick mount anytime. Even when I've upgraded my phone I just attach a new metal sticky to a phone case. Bingo Bango. 🙌
