Works great. Be sure to use unshunted sockets!!!
This was easy to hook up. This is a Programmed Rapid Start ballast which is supposed to increase the life of you florescent tube lamps by using them as they were originally designed. That is, by preheating filaments at both ends of the lamp and then arcing through the gas in the tube. There is about a second delay before the light really turns on - due to the preheating. That's what is supposed to extend the life of the lamp. A word of warning: Most T8 fixtures sold to the average consumer come with Instant Start ballasts. These ballasts have less wiring since instead of preheating filaments (which requires two wires per socket) they just ram through high voltage to force the lamp to arc. The sockets for fixtures with Instant Start ballasts usually have shunted sockets. i.e. both left and right pin holders are connected by either a wire, jumper or just by way of being one piece. YOU CANNOT USE SHUNTED SOCKETS WITH THIS BALLAST! It will destroy the ballast. In my case, the sockets were shunted by a jumper wire that I could pull out with a jewelry screwdriver. You should check your sockets with a continuity tester or some other means to make sure the two sides are not connected to each other before installing this ballast. You may need to buy new unshunted G13 sockets if you can't make your sockets into unshunted sockets. Just to clarify: A single socket has two pin holders that match the two pins on either side of the florescent tube. A shunted socket connects these two pins together. An unshunted socket does not connect the two pins together. You can't always visually determine a shunted from an unshunted socket since the connection may be hidden behind plastic.

New Bulb Had To Have It
My fixture had a completely different type of starter/ballast so when I got a replacement bulb the new more modern bulb wouldn't come on. I took a gamble hoping this ballast might solve the problem and ordered this one. Now the new bulb works and I didn't even need that starter thing anymore. I'd call that a win and at the price it's cheaper than a new 4-ft. dual bulb fixture.

Good price point
I returned as the wiring was not similar to my original, plus t wasn’t sure it would operate my LED fluorescent low power bulbs after reading the enclosed information. I wanted it to work as it’s efficiency factor was really good-meaning lower power bills The return was flawless and very easy.

Good product at a good price.
Needed this ballast for conversion of my shop lights from fluorescent to LED which requires the use of an electronic ballast. This worked right out of the box without fail. Now my entire shop is brightly lit, using less power than before. Would recommend.

great value
I bought over 10 of these to convert lighting to LED ..GE has always had a good brand name and the price was very right... Install instructions were good and time will tell how they hold up... I installed them about 10 months ago and so far they are working well...

Works great, replaced an Instant Start
I bought this to replace an Instant Start ballast. Instant Start ones are cheaper but they are hard on the tubes, typically burning out a tube after only hundreds of times being turned on. Programmed Start ballasts take slightly longer to light up the tubes, but they're very gentle and the tubes last many times longer. Required any place where you turn the lights on/off more than once a day (or you'll be spending a lot of money on replacement tubes). Note that this wires somewhat differently from an Instant Start, check the sockets in your fixture, each end of each tube should have TWO wires available, some fixtures may only have one (both pins tied together).

Easy install
Light weight and compact design No modification installed in same Fixture holes as former large ballast runs cooler

Return fees almost as much as item
The item didn't work for me. I tried to return, but it said 8.49 would be deducted from the refund for shipping. The item was only 9.45! And I know shipping does not cost that much. I don't appreciate it. It's not worth my time returning then for less than a dollar back so they can go resell the item for full price again. Now I'm stuck with this ballast I don't need.
