I’ve been using Dermatica’s Squalane Cleanser for a few weeks and overall I’m super impressed with how gentle and nourishing it feels. It doesn’t strip my skin at all and my face feels soft and comfortable after massaging it in, which is a big plus for someone with pretty dry and easily irritated skin. I do find it works best as the first step in a double cleanse. It’s FAB at breaking down makeup and sunscreen, even my waterproof mascara without stinging my eyes, but like most oil based cleaners it leaves behind a light film on my skin, even once I’ve added water to emulsify and turn it milky. Overall, it’s a lovely, hydrating option that keeps my skin barrier happy, just be prepared to pair it with another cleanser, even though it does say you can use it twice for a double cleanse, I’d be concerned about potentially breaking out depending on your skin type!

I’m only on day 2 of using but I am so happy with how my skin is already improving! When using other products my skin was always super dry, tight, flakey and then it would start burning and turning red. I’d wake up the next day with my skin super oily where it was overcompensating. I realised that its because my skin barrier was damaged & then I bought this. I’ve only been using it once a day to test it but my skin feels soft after using, I have no dryness or flakiness. A very minor amount of tightness which I assume is because of how damaged my skin is but its not uncomfortable and very easy to ignore. My skin has stopped burning & I woke up today with my skin looking exactly how it did after washing yesterday! It makes my skin feel moisturised without feeling wet or looking dewy. There’s a slight shine to my skin that looks healthy! So so happy with the product so far and for how much its already improved, it’s worth the cost

I love this cleanser so much it's the best I've used for my very sensitive combo skin. Unfortunately my most recently bottle somehow had a small hole in the bottom and the product won't come out? Not sure what's gone on there but yh great cleanser!

This is amazing. This is the only thing that's helped my face after tretinoin caused tightness and dryness. It has a lovely oily feeling and doesn't sting or cause any tightness after washing. This along with ILLIYOON Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream has been a life saving combo. Definitely will be purchasing again my skin is starting to feel back to normal or even better than. If you're using tretinoin these 2 items should be a staple in your routine absolutely recommend.

My favourite first cleanser to use for double cleansing at night. Other ones would cause closed comedones. This one is way better and removes makeup effectively. Been using this cleanser for a couple years now.

Excellent cleanser - emulsifies beautifully and removes my spf and everything else that needs to go. Will always have this in rotation

I do the two cleanse method with an oil based cleanser first, followed by a water based. Because I have acne prone and sensitive skin, I am careful about what I put on my face, especially when it comes to oil. I have been using The Ordinary Squalene cleanser as my 1st cleanser and loved it. I recognized that my skin is happy with squalene and responds well. BUT I hate having to go buy in the store. So I looked for a similar product and found this one by Dermatica. This is a great, great squalene cleanser, very similar to The Ordinary, but with a bit more "slip" as it has some added oils in it. It does the job of breaking down face makeup and glides well on the skin. The airless pump is my favorite type of bottle for skin care ingredients and this one is very nice. I have NO idea how this oil based cleanser would stand up to a different cleanser that was formulated with a different oil for makeup removal......but for a squalene based product, I think it is fantastic and I will be buying again. NOTE: this is a product you would use for the double cleanse method. It would not be a single cleanse product as there is residue that would be left behind and not leave your skin clean.

Searched high and low for a solid oil cleanser for removing water resistant mineral sunscreen. This works great!!!! Liquifies immediately, good on sensitive skin, does not cause breakouts. Came back to order more and thought I’d leave a review. This is a first cleanser, btw. You need to follow up with your normal wash.

I love the consistency of this cleanser. It is very similar to the Monat Be Gentle Cleanser at a better price point. I have never double cleansed in my life. It is amazing for dry and mature skin. I am 58 and need all the oil I can find. I love Dermatica. They have high quality products that are very reasonable. The Kristin Ess hair care line is the same.

I love oil cleansers however this one doesnt work as well as others I’ve tried. So far The Ordinary Squalane cleanser is my favorite. This one doesn’t quite get all my makeup off and I fine there’s a lot on my cotton pads when I use my toner. It does leave my face soft though.

I've seen a lot of negative reviews from folks that most likely don't double cleanse. Please only use this product when double cleansing, because Squalane is considered oil based, it is supposed to "emulsify" the makeup off your face, and therefore leaves a small oily film behind if you don't double cleanse. Thus, double cleansing is a must with a water based cleanser after using an oil-based cleanser. Correct way to double cleanse (usually done in the evenings only) ***recommended pre-step: take off most makeup with micellar water and reusable cotton rounds*** 1) apply a oil based cleanser on a DRY FACE, and spread around to lift makeup/dirt. 2) wet hands very slightly 3) rub wet hands on face to emulsify the oil cleanser (turns slightly white in color) 4) then wash off cleanser completely 5) cleanse face with second cleanser (Water-based) This product is awesome, and is the perfect for sensitive skin. I would recommend it for everyone and anyone! I bought this product in Sept 2024, use it 3-4 evenings a week and will probably run out sometime next month (Feb 2025)
