This is primarily a satcomm backup as I am a long haul truck driver whose company requires us to use our phones for dispatch. So if I break down in a no signal area, I can still be....Inreach lol. Highly recommended to keep one for your car as a backup if you travel in rual areas. All you need is to pair your phones bluetooth app to GPS and with no phone signal, you can send a message as long as you can see the sky. You can compose and read more quickly via phones Garmin Messenger app like texting and also sends to persons email. THEY MUST REPLY TO YOUR SENT MESSAGE FOR IT TO GET BACK TO YOU VIA THE GARMIN UNIT TO YOUR PHONE. Works just like your cell phone would. Cannot send more than 160 characters per message. Anything over is red over and must be sent in separate message.

This is the one to get. Fabulous unit. Easy to learn and use!!!

Love the Garmin 67i device. Great battery life, wonderful accuracy in heavily wooded/mountainous areas, but all the Wearable4U accessories are trash. I only ordered the Garmin + Wearable4U package because it shipped in time for my trip.

I like the user interface and unlike my past Garmin units, this doesn't feel like I'm holding it upside-down. Easy to use.

I will be returning this device. A simple yearly subscription might suffice and make sense. But on top of the yearly subscription, there are monthly packages that vary between $15 and $60 per month! That is an absolute unconscionable rip off.
