The Instant #1 New York Times Bestseller! From the acclaimed, bestselling author of Make Your Bed —a short, inspirational book of advice and leadership lessons that Admiral McRaven collected over his four decades as a Navy SEAL. The title “Bullfrog” is given to the Navy SEAL who has served the longest on active duty. Admiral McRaven was honored to receive this honor in 2011 when he took charge of the United States Special Operations Command. When McRaven retired in 2014, he had 37 years as a Navy SEAL under his belt, leading men and women at every level of the special operations community. In the ensuing four years, he served as Chancellor to the entire University of Texas System, with its 230,000 students and 100,000 faculty and health care workers. During those four decades, Admiral McRaven dealt with every conceivable leadership challenge, from commanding combat operations—including the capture of Saddam Hussein, the rescue of Captain Phillips, and the raid for Osama bin Laden. The Wisdom of the Bullfrog draws on these and countless other experiences from Admiral McRaven’s incredible life, including crisis situations, management debates, organizational transitions, and ethical dilemmas, to provide readers with the most important leadership lessons he has learned over the course of his forty years of service. Each chapter provides a Make Your Bed -like parable, rich with insights about the specific leadership traits required to be at the top of your game. The Wisdom of the Bullfrog is Admiral McRaven’s clear-eyed treatise on the leadership qualities that separate the good from the truly great. Review: Easy read - I enjoyed this book. Was an easy read. Each chapter has a story to tell that goes with each objective. At the end of the story there is a cliff notes version of the objective to simplify and re impress upon the leadership principle. Review: Clear, Direct, Engaging, and Universal - The blurb on the inside cover of Admiral McRaven's fourth book hails it as "a short, inspirational guide offering advice and leadership lessons gathered over four decades as a Navy SEAL." True to its description, The Wisdom of the Bullfrog goes beyond, making it particularly captivating for those dedicated to enhancing their leadership skills. What sets it apart? McRaven skillfully condenses his 40-year journey into 18 chapters filled with anecdotal snapshots. Each chapter is punctuated by a memorable title, serving as a leadership rule, followed by a concise summary. These rules transcend conventional HBS wisdom, and the summaries form a valuable curriculum. Few individuals, possessing both McRaven's intellect and extensive experience, choose to share their insights publicly. The stories unveiled in the book portray a tenacious individual committed to conquering both physical and mental obstacles, demonstrating that wisdom is forged through the crucible of hard knocks, where failure becomes the most instructive teacher, and successes validate the pains of learning. Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and wholeheartedly recommend it. The author's writing style is clear and direct, the content is engaging, and the lessons imparted are universally applicable. A solid five stars.

Great Leadership book.
This is an amazing book that leads to thoughtful discussion. I have used some of the principles taught in my day to day life, as well as using some of principles in my classroom. It is clear and easy to follow, which leads to it not being a difficult read which I enjoyed.

So simple and yet so foundational to ensure the right mix of key personal attributes for success.
As a fellow Navy (French navy) and avid martial artist since I was 5 years old, this book is perfect for anybody whom wants to gain / refresh their directional guidelines on how to lead but, most importantly act. Whether you call it your code of honor, bushido or anything in between, this book will definitely resonate with people having experienced massive life lessons on how to remain focused on the real self true-north while encountering successes and potholes along the way. Same as in martial arts, this book will remind you that the basic principles and foundations will never change . Admiral McRaven has packed a wealth of wisdom in 200 pages based on his “life PhD” gained through a vast cargo of experiences and memories…. Well done!

Common sense words you should already know but probably don’t.
There are times when common sense knowledge needs to be written down and presented in a way that makes it applicable to the everyday person. The Admirals words aren’t groundbreaking or even new ideas but are words to live by, presented in an easy to read and understand manner, and in a length that allows this book to be read quickly. A primer on leadership, the phrase “a Shepard smells like his sheep” is something that no one in a position of leadership should forget. Absolutely worth the money to buy, the time to read, and the later opportunity to give as a gift for someone else to learn from.

Very good book on responsibility of a leader. The author was a Navy Seal Admiral. I found the book fascinating and lots of good thoughts specifically in a leadership role. But it ‘s also good at learning how to just get along with people.

Admiral McRaven has written this simple charter to build character!
The simple rules with some engaging examples, sharing not instructing, warm but not patronising, deep but not self righteous, that defines this book of fine, aged, distilled wisdom! I remain inspired by the life and times of Admiral McRaven.
