I had no problem getting these drivers to work, however I would be reluctant to run them at, or near to, the supposed 2A maximum current. With a 24V supply running a 2A capable NEMA 17 stepper motor (winding resistances 1.4 ohm) the chip became uncomfortably hot at around 0.5A continuous. Now to be fair this is more than most 3D printers will draw continuously, so I'm guessing the solution works okay for most printer setups. However, for me this was problematic. In the end I was forced to substitute a DM542T which handled the current and heat effortlessly. I strongly recommend the use of fan cooling and possibly mount a heatsink both sides of the chip mount. I have experience with the TPC2209 chip on development boards and these drivers conform to expectations.

Got these to replace 4988 drivers so I could drive 24 volt motors. They are a direct plug in replacement on the Arduino cnc shield with two caveats. First there are two pins sticking down between the two rows which are not necessary. I cut them flush. Second, be very careful to identify orientation. They are different than the 4988. Produce absolutely silent motor drive. Excellent

I'd been working on a stepper arduino controller, I tried several drivers. - first was the L289N - wayyyyyy too much current, motor and controller too hot to touch, 60 Watts! - second was the DRV8825 - much better, but there was still quite a bit of noise and the motor rumbled around on the table - third was TMC2209 - This hit the sweet spot, motor is inaudible and heat is very much under control
