DK Braille It Can't Be True! (DK Braille Books)

Delightful, superb quality and excellent design. Perfect for me as a beginner, learning to read braille. This book facilitates both younger and older students (myself falling well into the latter!) and I was so pleased at the illustrations and pleasingly laid out text. This is an enduring book that I feel I will use well into my quest to learn the language.I honestly cannot find fault with it. The text is clear, with the raised braille characters for touch, plus the dot overly for the sighted reading braille. It has everything I was looking for, to be honest and I could not be more pleased with the product.

Bought for children in the only blind school in The Gambia. Good strong sturdy construction which will hopefully last years and help many children. Also bought the farm book and one other but these seem to be the only ones on the market. Is this all there is for children? Surely not. And what about adult braille reading material appreciating many use audio books/usb if one has access to technology.

This is quite a good book for sharing facts. It enables the sighted person to be able to read along and help if the reader gets stuck.

Got this for my nephew, he loves reading the facts, its really good that there's the Braille and text too s we can read with him

Almost everything in the book is raised. E.g. the human hand I have my hand on in the picture has wee pyramid shapes on it so you can feel the comparison between the size of the Goliath spider and an adult hand.I'm the "child" I bought this for, so I can't comment on what age group this good for.

Lovely book, so informative. This was the latest book for my 8 year old and she loves it. It was the last Braille’s book that I could find for her that is age appropriate, so please make more Braille books for older children please, please, please :)

I like product useful for learning

I did not find the dots to be protuding enough.However, I am a sighted individual (bought this item specifically to try to learn to read Braille with my eyes closed) and I bought it used, so it might have been eroded by its previous user.

The shapes and different textures in the DK Braille books are terrific! I use them for two purposes: As an adult, whose ability to see was removed due to cancer, at age two, pictures were not something to which I was exposed! I was fascinated with drawing on a raised-line drawing board, and enthralled when a braille book would say that something was in she shape of a "u" "V" "S" or "o" and have a raised depiction of the letter at the bottom of the page. Sometimes, we were fortunate enough to have actual raised drawings of systems, suchas a sewer system, in a science book, or old counting symbols in a math book. Owning anything that had these tactile qualities was impossible!Today, I study the DK Braille books and reminisce about how wonderful they would have been while growing up. But, I also learn a lot about depicting three-dimensional objects in a two-dimensional space. I learned raised print at an early age, and would pass printed notes to my sighted classmates! Learning print was never a requirement, but an overwhelming strong desire!Now, I use these books to teach my grandchildren to recognize and appreciate using touch with and without visually looking at the picture.It was actually my sighted librarian daughter-in-law who turned me on to the DK Braille books, and I was ecstatic to find several on Amazon!Don't be fooled by the claim that they are designed for blind children. They are for anyone who wishes to learn and teach others about the neglected sense of touch, and the wonders it brings to those who are distracted by only visual perception is real. I often say that "seeing is believing, but vision is deceiving."
