This is a small but mighty OBDII bluetooth scanner. Simply download the app, plug in the bluetooth module, pair and you're ready to check multiple functions through your OBDII part on your car or truck. I've included several images of the interface so you have an idea of what is available. This scanner not only includes the ability to read codes, you can check on the vehicle's smog status (to see if your car is "ready" for a smog test). That's really important if there have been any repairs made to systems that need to cycle before a smog test. While you may not have a MIL after repairs or clearing codes, the systems need time to reset and be ready for a smog test. This unit could save you a trip and wait in line at the testing facility versus getting sent home. It also has the ability to run individual "live data" tests for more advanced trouble shooting. Novice users will like the simplicity of the main screens, while more advanced users might prefer the live data for items such as O2 sensors, speed sensors, EGR, fuel rate, etc. An unexpected surprise was the ability for this unit to provide "Mode $06" diagnostics. I haven't spent a lot of time with this but found it incredibly valuable for older OBDII cars that might not have the full support of modern vehicles like my son's 96 Cobra Mustang. If you know about Mode $06, you know it takes some research into what codes represent which PIDs, but it's great to have that information in such a small and cost effective unit. Finally, it has some neat features like tracking status driving data that shows RPM, coolant temp, mph, fuel consumed and fuel remaining, total mileage, battery voltage, intake temp, etc. It also has some dashboard features you can use for real time display and the lag time between the unit and actual vehicle activity was very low in my testing. Just for fun my friend and I used the acceleration test and felt it was quite accurate - at least he was pleased with the results. I think we'll have more fun with it in the future. One time saving tip I found, when you go to pair to a different vehicle it asks you to scan the QR code of the bluetooth unit. Well, that's not an option when it's plugged into the OBDII port so I just kept the box it came in and scanned the QR code on the side of the box - it's the same and super easy access. Keep in mind, this is not a full on diagnostic scanner in terms of being bi-directional or able to address systems such as TPMS nor should you expect that at this price. But it is a very good scanner to read codes and get real knowledge to help you when service is required and what you should expect to fix or have fixed by a trusted mechanic. To date, I have used this on my wife's 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, my Dodge Ram 2500 diesel, and 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe RXT. I will definitely keep this in my car whenever I travel and at this price, you could buy more than one if you have vehicles in different places or want to track the daily activity of your vehicle(s).

Updated post - I've been trying out this scanner for over a month now and overall, I believe it's a great tool that's easy to use at a very reasonable price. And no need for third party software. The instructions for setting up the device may seem a little confusing. But this is what I did. Getting it to pair with your phone is the first thing you need to do. You need to download the app and enter your email. They use 2 step confirmation with your email which is good. Once you enter the code they send, the device is activated on their end. (If you don't do this, you will never see the device populate on your bluetooth list of your phone.) You cannot just plug it in and connect to your phone. you need to follow the steps on the app. Once the app is setup on the phone you'll scan the QR code on the device and then plug it into the car. I've attached a few photos to show how it works. The device will automatically connect to your ECU and it finds the VIN number and you just confirm the data to get started. Once this is complete you can begin to do your scanning. It works quickly and easily and shows the DTC codes and give a hyperlink if you want to look them up. You can then clear the codes and it walks you through the steps on the app. It does all this allows for switching between cars very easily. Something the earlier version of the AD20 did not do so well. I bought a couple of the earlier versions for my kids cars and it was a hassle switching cars and setting up each time. Initially I had an issue with the device throwing a VSC code on an older Lexus when I first got it. However, I reached out to their product support and they updated the software which fixed the problem in short order. (I have one of their professional scanners, the D7 and they've always been quick to make corrections for updates to take care of any issues.) So if you want a scanner to keep in your car for the occasional check when you have an MIL or DTC, this is a great option that's at the right price point. And you can't beat the customer service.
