Fruity Nuggets for Guinea Pigs 10 kg

An open product of any guinea pig food, no matter how well re-sealed between uses, loses its vit C value well within 6 weeks. So that bargain bag that is lasting anyone longer than 5 or 6 weeks isn’t such a bargain if you’re assuming it’s still providing your pigs what vitamins the label on the bag states. Basically, after 5 or 6 weeks consider any remaining food you are still feeding to be past it’s Use By Date and ensure you remember to provide 100% of your pets daily vit C requirements another way until you open a new fresh bag of guinea pig food. This isn’t just regarding this food but ALL Guinea pig feeds with the added antioxidant vit C. Vit C isn’t a stable compound so has a short life once exposed to air and moisture. If you really want to do the best for your pets and unless you are someone with 10+ guinea pigs to feed, it’s much better to buy the smaller bags so you’re using the bag up well before the vit levels drop and you know your pigs are getting the best fresh food, and not stale stuff that’s been open and stored for months. Rather like Cornflakes - no matter how well you seal up the inner plastic and close the outer box to keep your cereal fresh, they never taste all that fresh after a while. Same with animal feed. Don’t feed stale product just to save a few pennies. 😉 Also beware buying this (and everything else) via subscription service as prices on Amazon jump incredibly month to month. This was £14.99/bag for my 3rd July 2022 auto monthly delivery; today, 11th July 2022 each bag is now jumped to £20.58. Definitely keep an eye on monthly prices and switch products to avoid nasty surprises. This is a great supplemental nugget for Guinea pigs, enjoyed by all of my breeding and show stock and containing a really decent vit C content at production. Beware some of the ‘house name’ products and their pathetic vit C/kg content. Adding just 200mg/kg of ascorbic acid really ISN'T adequate or justify promoting a product as being a premium product designed for Guinea pig nutritional requirements. At best such a product provides little useful support and owners need to know they MUST feed adequate fresh daily vit C to their pigs in addition to such poor products.

Have bought it in smaller packages before, but this is much better value.

Item arrived on time.. although from the name of it I was expecting a mix type food but it's not it's just nuggets. But it's fine just think the name is misleading

Not a bad price. It definitely makes more sense to buy the bigger bad if you can, because you get much more for your money. And the guinea pigs eat it every day, so it can't be that bad.
