I bought this for a friend who has Meniere's disease and can consume very little sodium. Too much causes vertigo and tinnitus. Her food is very bland, but this salt substitute is a blessing. She's able to enjoy her meals now.

While browsing online for a salt substitute I came across this protect (Morton Salt substitute: sodium free, for all cooking, 31/8 ounces) and purchased it. As always, the delivery service was great. I am very pleased with my purchase. If you must use sodium free seasoning you may want to check out this product. Rating: 4 Stars. Joseph J. Best salt substitute in the market for a salt replacement. Texture is like table salt, but again because it’s Potassium chloride it’s best in cooking and not on its own as it will taste bitter (nature of potassium chloride)

After developing high blood pressure, I did what most do - look for a salt substitutes. While I'm sure that the flavor of this product is what it is - I was not prepared for the intensity. I put just a few grains on my finger to taste prior to adding to a recipe, and it was like salt times 1,000. I have no idea how I would use this in cooking - and I cook A LOT! For the price I paid, I was expecting a full container, and was shocked to see the mini version - at just over $9. Had I loved the product I'd be really unhappy that I'd have to add this to a weekly grocery list, but since I really hate it - it's just now a $9 mistake. Better to experiment for new flavors with basil, onions, tyme, sage, curry, chipotle seeds...
