We live in a world of both profound separation and deep longing for connection. Betz and Kimsey-House explore not only the historical and spiritual history of our disconnection and its cost to individual and societal well-being, but also provide a compelling, neuroscience-based argument for how to make the next great turning of human development: becoming more integrated human beings. They invite you to accompany them through a road map to integration by exploring in detail the Co-Active model, originally used by coaches, but with practical application to business, parents, teachers, and anyone with a desire to be more effective, connected, and whole. Richly illustrated with true stories of integration in action, as well as current research in neuroscience, this book provides a guide to reaching our full potential within ourselves, with each other, in groups and organizations and with society at large. Our human experience is that we are fragmented, but it is now time for Integration, slowly moving back towards wholeness.
Not only for coaches! Starting with the authors' personal stories and moving through analysis of the human condition as a whole, this book is packed with inspiration and advice on how to move forward in relationships with others, in life and in work. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in self improvement - it is down to earth, non-pretentious and very, very readable. The idea behind the book is that we start as a whole, part of One (or God, or the Universe) and our human experience is that we are fragmented, but it is now time for Integration, slowly moving back towards wholeness. Integration will help you find the words to describe and think about what it means to be part of humanity and part of the universe.

Inspiring!
What I loved most about this book is how strongly it supports my belief that we as human beings are indeed resourceful enough to transform the challenges we are facing today as a global community. The many insightful stories, interesting background information and applicable ideas how to bring the power of co-activity into all kinds of relationships are exceptionally inspiring. Recommended not only for coaches!

At the core of our being we are not broken, but instead we are inherently capable and inventive
At the heart of Betz and Kimsey House's book, is a simple premise that at the core of our being we are not broken, but instead we are inherently capable and inventive. This is our natural state. However, our conditioned mind can make that difficult to access and experience. Instead of feeling whole we feel fragmented, and therefore separate from others. The path to restoring our awareness of our inate wholeness is through Integration - which paradoxically Betz and Kimsey House say, asks us to know and value our differences - our differentiated self - as the basis of connecting with others. The tools to this lie - amongst many other paths to wholeness - in the Co-Active Model, the basis of the most widely known and arguably successful coaching model in the world. For readers who know or have trained in Co-Active Coaching Skills, this book will provide the deeper dive into heart of what makes it tick. For those new to Co-Active this book will provide the theory and rationale for why it works. Recommended.

As a Co-Active coach, I love everything about the co-active model and it permeates to work and life. This book is a very nice read for coaches and all, love the neuroscience touches and how easy it is to read. A great recommendation for friends and family that want to know more about our coaching model and how to use in every day life.

I will reference it often in my coaching practice and highly recommend to anyone interested in personal growth
Whether you are in the professional or personal business of transformation (or both!), this book will fill your insides with the gooey goodness of integration that sticks to your bones. I had a conversation with my wife and friends right after I finished this book and felt an upward shift in my level of presence, listening, and curiosity that made me smile. My capacity to focus on "the whole person" in front of me and to let go of judgment opened up to a degree that startled me! Ann Betz and Karen Kimsey-House have written a very readable book, backed by real-life stories and neuroscience, that provides a blueprint for very doable transformation. I will reference it often in my coaching practice and highly recommend to anyone interested in personal growth.
