Raising Amazing: Bringing Up Kids Who Love God, Like Their Family, and Do the Dishes without Being Asked

This is by far the best overall parenting book that I have read so far. The type of parenting that Monica describes is exactly what I would love for my parenting journey to look like. It’s a very high standard, but Monica breaks it down into very realistic steps for intentional parenting that leads to giving our children the very best that we can give them. Monica speaks kindly but challenges parents very directly and I am grateful for her mentorship through this book and her other outlets (Instagram, other books, podcast, website). I have recommended this book to all my mom friends and know I will be going back through it often as I spend time creating habits and a family atmosphere that always comes back to humbly worshiping Jesus and pointing my kids to Him. I also highly recommend her audiobook for a much more friendly feeling as you hear from her whole family. Hearing her youngest share his feelings of inclusion and value in his family actually moved me to tears. Thank you Monica!

I’ve read Monica Swanson’s Boy Mom twice, and then saw this new book of hers right after it came out almost a year ago. It’s practical and comprehensive. It’s something I can come back to over and over as we enter each new phase with our four boys. At the core of her wisdom is the idea of character we work to instill in our children, from wherever we find ourselves in parenting when we pick up this book. It is a conscious effort and takes work and initiative. But reading Swanson’s books really makes it seem tangible, and especially this new one with input from her husband and sons! It brings hope, wisdom, encouragement, and great reminders. I am so grateful for her time, energy, and care! And first and foremost, I am thankful that this work is done for and because of a faith foundation rooted in Jesus Christ. Thanks, Monica!

Just finished reading “Raising Amazing”. Really needed some wisdom since my kids are growing out of elementary school and showing their stubborn characters 🥲 I read your Homeschooling book as well and we are done with our first year of homeschooling! Thanks to your book I entered that season with confidence! And I’m loving the way it affects my children! They became friends and more tolerant towards each other! And definitely no more bad habits/words/attitudes that we used to get from being in public school AND private Christian school :/

I picked up this book because I knew it would be encouraging. So many parenting books are heavily focused on the earlier years, and this was full of wisdom for the season I am entering into with my oldest, who will be 10 this year! There are so many discipleship opportunities through faith, character building, struggles, and outside influences at these ages that this book covers. It will guide you through setting a clear vision for your family and how to walk that out in different aspects of parenting. I also really, REALLY love that her husband includes a page to the dads at the end of each chapter. How often do we read parenting books as a mom, and then try to download everything to our husbands? I love that they included this. Each of her sons also take turns contributing a little of their perspective as well. I love this. It was so sweet to read, in their own words, how these things impacted them. I enjoyed this one, and I would recommend it for sure. This book will both encourage and equip!

I didn’t want to review this book until I had finished it. I just finished it today and I have grown so much over the last few months reading it! It took me a while to read because I am also reading the Bible everyday and life happens, but it could easily be read in a couple of days if you wanted to. I enjoyed taking my time with it though. It will definitely be one I come back to over and over again. It has lots of great knowledge and ideas on how to raise your kids to be amazing and LOVE GOD! I am so happy I found this book and Monica. She is such a bright light and an amazing role model. If you don’t already, listen to her podcast. It’s equally as amazing and inspiring! ✨

Monica has done it again with another book that is needed in todays society. Practical, biblical wisdom from someone who has raised 4 amazing boys. I love that she included the whole family in this book. You’ll not only get encouraging, thought-provoking chapters from her, but a summary/challenge at the end from her husband, and then a perspective from one of her boys. This book has been a great encouragement to me in my parenting journey and has allowed me to think about areas that need tweaking and areas that we are doing well in. An easy read that will end up pouring our blessings to our family as we apply what is challenged.

I have been so inspired by all of Monica’s content and this book DID NOT disappoint! I am so thankful to have her as a role model as I navigate life as a young mom. I was so inspired by the testimonies of her boys throughout this book and I loved that I could hand my husband the book to read the messages from Dave. Because of this book, I started doing “Bible time” with my three year old son to encourage him in that rhythm of life like Monica did with her boys. SO excited for her homeschool book to come out in the spring! Thanks for all that you do Monica. I tear up all the time reading your books and listening to your podcasts out of joy, inspiration and motivation to raise my kiddos with faith and character.
