Absolute gem of a rice cooker
I was using a saucepan and the 2:1 ratio (2 parts water, 1 part rice) but the cooking was always iffy, trying not to burn the rice or the pan, sometimes the rice came out too watery, or nicely cooked but the pan was difficult to clean afterwards. Call me lazy yeah. So I decided to invest on a rice cooker, I didn't want anything that could feed an army regiment, just a small rice cooker. So based on the fact that most reviews on Amazon are being pay offs, I was very sceptical on choosing my first rice cooker. I was between this and another German one, finally chose this because of the lower price compared to the German model. And I'm glad I did cause there nothing not to love about the Bear! Rice? Perfection! Simply the best rice I ever made without stressing myself, or being on top of it while it cooks. The steaming basket? The huge bonus for me (which has actually opened new horizons in my diet). The basket is enough for a couple of regular persons or one with a huge appetite like myself :D So cooking rice while steaming anything on the basket is a huge benefit for me, as it basically means that you hit two birds with one stone (I don't want to sound vulgar to our little fluffy feathered flying friends - this statement excludes pigeons of course, which are annoying beggars). Two different foods in one cooking: less washing up! Happy times! Ease of use? 3 step function! Fill it up with contents - Choose what kind of rice (or soup, porridge etc) you want to make and press start. Let it heat and cook under an extractor, go do your thing and come back after a while with an empty plate to fill and eat (actually avoid eating the plate, they are very crunchy let me tell ya). So far i haven't been adventurous in making soups etc so I cannot comment on these, however the rice (long grain. basmati and brown) and steamed vegetables, prawns, frankfurters that I usually put on are out of this world. One thing to note is that the Bear (being a bear) is quite slow. Especially when cooking brown rice, which took about 50 minutes in my case. White rice generally takes about 30 minutes or so. The amazing thing about the bear is that it won't overcook or burn your food, once it is ready the device stops cooking and keeps it warm till you press the start/stop button on the lid. Which actually is a gem if you are a gamer, or if you watch a move and have forgotten about the food (which I do like 9 in 10 times). If you are thinking which rice cooker to buy, the bear is a gorgeous choice. It will feed 2 hungry individuals well with rice and steamed whatever, it cleans very easily and won't break the bank. Plus it not one of those wild bears that will destroy your house looking for the honeypot. It is nice and compact and can be stored easily till next time use. Amazing cooker, very happy with it! As the Brits say: "does what it says on the tin" (and is really good at it)

A perfect rice cooker!
As someone who is completely new to using rice cookers, I was a bit nervous at first but when my dad requested one for his birthday that’s when I had to find something to make him happy and then I came across this since most of our rice cookers with affection nearly £60-£70 and at the time I had a very tight budget and couldn’t afford much so when I came across this I had a glimmer of Hope and then when it arrived I’m delighted to say not not only did it impressed my Dad, but it’s also impressed me as a first timer for rice cookers very easy to use once you get through the instructions and rice comes up perfectly cooked every single time not to mention you can also do steaming you can do soups and even porridge with this rice cooker! So if you’re looking for a rice cooker that’s cheap and yeah great quality versatility and functionality as well as a decent fast cooking time this is the rice cooker for you!

Bear 6 multifunctional rice cooker with steamer
Love this bear 6 multifunctional rice cooker with steamer. Yes it takes a lot longer to cook wholegrain brown rice but I believe it is worth it for the quality of the cooked rice. I had forgotten white basmati has separate grains once cooked! I love the squarish shape that is slightly smaller than some models and the quality of the plastic gives the sense of it being robust as well as not being bright white. The internal lid is very easy to remove and clean. Note: when cooking wholegrain brown rice, and the cooker is venting steam, you may need to mop up liquid grunge regularly (for a short period) from the top surface circular vent. A great rice cooker for the money, excellent value, highly commended.

Unplug when not in use! Extremely good price.
I have a love-hate relationship with this. My first ever rice cooker. Amazingly sleek, love the design and ease of use. Cooks well, steams well, rice and porridge both. 2 cups of uncooked rice is the limit. I've had it leak water multiple times from experimenting with it but it's easy to clean up due to how smooth and sleek it is eternally and haven't had many problems since. Good size and makes a ton of rice, (2 cups uncooked IS a ton of rice). Really easy to clean, it's very non stick so you can let it dry and then wipe it round with a soapy cloth or sponge. BIG DOWNSIDE - It turns itself on. I don't know how or why it does this but both my rice cup and actual metal bottom of the rice cooker and the pot inside have all burnt. You have to unplug it every time you're done using it, you cannot trust this thing and keep it plugged in. No way. Keep it unplugged when not in use or you'll end up with a house fire. For me that's not a big deal though, I like to unplug my electronics when not in use anyway, but do be careful about it. If I knew about this problem, I'd probably still buy it and so I still highly recommend it, I'm just sad that my rice cup has melted. Overall, it's extremely good for the price and for a solo individual the size is perfect, you might want to upgrade if you cook more rice. Love this thing and hoping it will last me a long time.

Love This Rice Maker - Definitely Recommend - I Love It
I have wanted a rice cooker for forever and because I mess rice up every time we don’t eat very much rice and especially that we are switching all white food to wholemeal I thought if I can’t cook white rice I will only really mess up brown rice, so a rice cooker it was.😊 I searched for ages comparing products and prices and settled with this Bear 6 and I have not been disappointed! What a dream finally eating well cooked tasty rice. I made basmati using the white rice setting it came out perfect. Since then, I have made brown rice several times and not been let down at all. The rice is always cooked evenly and fluffs with a fork with ease. This is a neat looking rice cooker, quite compact as I found a space to store in the cupboard. The instructions are simple, easy to understand (although there is very little instructions needed to use this cooker). It comes with a measuring cup for rice, wide plastic spoon/spatula and the markings in the pot are super clear making it easy to then add the water to the line / depending on rice amount measured. What I have found though is that it takes quite some time to warm up & cook the rice, so I now get the rice in the cooker ahead of making the rest of the dinner. The rice has never stuck to the non-stick pot, and it is really easy to clean. When the rice is cooked it beeps and then turns automatically to Keep Warm – usually by this time I am ready to dish up but if I’m not it’s not a problem bc my rice is still kept warm. We are a family of 3 and this size is more than big enough for us (I have only ever used 2 cups and there is always plenty leftover) but it does cook for more than 2 cups. Also includes steamer basket – this is really small though and I haven’t yet used it and can also be used for porridge, soup etc. Highly recommend - so pleased I settled with this Bear 6 - I Love it..

Broke on first use
Not sure of cooking speed but I guess it was fast how badly it burned the rice. Washed my rice until water is clear (not my first rodeo cooking rice) went to the water level advised and set it and forget it while I went to the gym as it’s supposed to go to keep warm setting when done. Got to find an alternative one now. Do not recommend. Online support isn’t reliable either as it’s for US and Canada only

Brilliant, great assets to any kitchen
We’re on a stricken diet due to health so we can’t buy ready made rice as it contains oil. I’m absolutely awful at making rice! Didn’t know I’d ever want, or need a rice cooker, but now we have one, can’t do without it. Makes the fluffiest of rice. Far better than shop bought. Thanks to other reviews, I knew that one measure of rice is equal to 1 measure in the pot markings of water. this isn’t explained in the instructions. If a kitchen gadget could be labelled as cute, then it deserves the label. Super easy to use, fill, press a button and walk away. Don’t even have to worry about having rice ready the same time as the meal as it keeps it nice and hot automatically. It’s large enough to make rice for a generous portion for 4 people, but it’s only small. Takes up no space in the cupboard. So happy with it, no more stress over rice 😃 it’s that simple to use,

Works a treat, nice and compact too.
Nice compact unit. I purchased the 1.2 yellow, which is, as expected, more a beige...very nice. I can only say that it worked just as advertised. 1 cup of washed rice, water up to the line marked 1, add any ingredients you feel like, soy sauce, garlic, chili flakes, frozen peas and sweetcorn to mine...steamed some fresh veg in the steamer too...brilliant result. The inner bowl was a dream to clean, quality non-stick indeed. Obviously time and use will be the ultimate test, but for now, I am glad I went for this one. No mess, easy to clean, worked a treat.
