Bought this as a coaching vest when I teach Spanish Destreza Fencing. The vest performs well to protect me from training rapier thrusts and cuts. I wear a plastic chest protector under it in case a broken tip happens. The vest is rated at 350 newtons in the description and I believe this to be accurate based on using it in practice sparring with my students. For HEMA tournaments I would suggest further gear such as hard protection for arm joins (elbows , forearms )ect. Good value for the money.

very stiff padding. decent protective layer.

The fit is good but I wore it once and the zipper broke. It didn't last an hour. Also it does not breathe at all. Its very hot. I'm disappointed in this jacket. I order a medium and it was big on me. The zipper wasn't under strain.
