Great small knife!
One of my favorites. I cannot say enough about this knife. Cuts easy, comfortable, and light weight.

High Quality Knife
Peels tomatoes with ease. The 18/10 Stainless steel will not rust, which is important where I live due to the climate and water quality. These knives are worth every cent!

Best brand of knives.
This is my 5th Global knife, they are the best knives I have ever had. My cousin had a restaurant and this brand of knife is what she used in her kitchen at home, I met them there. The knives are expensive but this is absolutely a case of you get that you pay for. I plan on putting them in my will I like them that much.

Decent while it lasted
I’ve had this knife for 3 years but it started to rust after 2. Now it rusts if it’s not cleaned and dried immediately after use so throwing it away.

No more pre-chewed looking tomatoes
I find myself reaching for a Global more often than the knives I own from other mass market brands: Wüsthof, Zwilling-Henckels and Shun. In my experience, a Global is sharper out of the box than its German competitors yet less fussy than its fellow Japanese offerings. And I love that they make a lot of specialty knives, ones not frequently found in the average American home kitchen. I surf their site and think, “Do I need this?! Ohhh, I think I do!”. Of course the answer is usually: no, I really don’t. But this weird little knife was one I had to try. I actually don’t even like tomatoes but I seem to prepare them very, very often for my family. I don’t work with enough serrated knives to expertly comment on this one. But the gullies in this knife are fairly deep, the tips are quite sharp: so this has a lot of “bite”. It’s not just a glorified steak knife— as those have dozens of narrow gullies and are meant to operate like a saw— whereas this has deep, more scalloped gullies, but fewer of them… which I think, don’t quote me here, means more concentrated force is distributed with less effort. So you aren’t going to press as hard; in the world of ‘let’s not totally mangle this poor innocent tomato’ this is only a good thing. This knife glides through like butter. OK, like buttah. It’s supremely satisfying to use. If you own a high quality serrated knife that equally performs on shoe leather steak, sourdough loaf, and plum tomatoes, well, you’re in better shape than I am and probably don’t need this knife. But I can’t give it 5 stars because, like others have reported, it is about an inch too short to be the tool it should be. I don’t see how adding some length would harm its intended purpose of gentleness and precision. Maybe my Western brain hasn’t figured out those physics…. I primarily use this on cocktail tomatoes. I rarely have big ole Beefsteaks or any variety much larger than a Roma or standard vine-ripened. It cuts VERY precise, thin slices. That’s its job. If you ask it do much more than easily cut gorgeous slices—like dicing— it doesn’t perform much better than basically any other knife. (Though my knife sills are fairly remedial). Tomatoes are just… difficult. And this is not a magic wand; if you’re hacking away trying to make itty bitty pieces, you’re still gonna get that seedy tomatoey ooze and look around your cutting board for a way to scoop those guts right back into the tomato. Or is that just me? Also, when doing tomatoes for my mom, who isn’t as keen on eating the skin, this knife works fine as a peeler too. But again, if you’re after very pretty and perfect slices with minimal effort and you possess only basic knife skills, the GS-9-3's performance and control on small tomatoes makes this a good investment. Oh, and if it’s the middle of the night and you want to gently separate a stubborn English muffin and top it with a fried egg and a gorgeously sliced wee cherry tomato, well, this is the only knife you need to grab. And that’s saying something, yes? I think so. Lastly, I happen to enjoy the grip and the weight on most Globals but they’re not for everyone. Though it’s safe to say if you’re perusing this page you’re probably already an owner of at least one Global. Or if you have a tomato-lover in you life or are looking for an uncommon gift for the cook that seems to have it all, this is a pretty cool darn knife (for a handful of incredibly specific tasks). And I’m here for that.

Like all my Global knives
I've been needing a tomato knife for a long time and finally bought the Global Tomato Knife. Like all my Global knives, this knife handle fits nicely and feels good in my hand and my tomatoes are cut clean without smashing any part of the tomato - I love it.

Bought as a gift, and greatly appreciated. Like all Global knives it's beautifully made, super sharp, and a pleasure to use. Some reviews said it was too small to be very useful, but I managed to finely slice an average sized orange without any trouble. A useful addition, although a bit of a luxury. Ordering was easy and it arrived quickly.

Fabulous knife - cuts through veggies with ease and looks amazing, too! My only concern is that there is an indentation where the handle joins the blade - like it wasn't a smooth joining when being made. I'm hoping it won't start to pit after use.

It cuts easily and smoothly as it should. Ok the blade could be one or two cm longer, but that seldom bothers me. A good and beautiful knife perfect for softer vegetables.
