Henckels CLASSIC 5-inch Serrated Utility Knife

This knife was to replace our one and only "good knife" which is better than all our crappy butcher block cheap ones and everyone in the family fights over using "the good knife". And this replacement lived up to it's predecessor! The knife we previously loved was also a J.A.Henckels but an older model that I can't seem to find again. I took a chance and ordered this one so we could have one in the dishwasher and still be able to use one. I had non of the thinness or wobbly problems other reviewers have had. It is visibly full tang and built to last! And WOW this thing is SO SHARP! I'm attaching pictures in case you too are trying to find this older style knife and want to compare. I am also attaching a picture of a yummy burger that is covered with toppings all expertly sliced with this new family favorite knife! For the burger, this J.A. Henckels knife is super universal and easily cut the hamburger bun, lettuce, extra thin onions, tomato, and kalamata olives (top with gouda for a fabulous burger)! If you are looking for an excellent, all-purpose knife, I highly recommend this knife and it's worth the money! ****************** UPDATE ******************* Dropped to 3 stars because it is "just okay". This knife only lasted about 7 months and is now too dull to cut a tomato. Disappointing since it's predecessor (also a J.A. Henckles) lasted for YEARS so it seemed worth the price to replace it. I paid about $32 for this knife and that's too much considering it lasted half a year. I have actually resorted to using my original J.A. Henckles knife again that this one was meant to replace, since it is now the sharper of the two.

The ZWILLING HENCKELS Classic 5 inch Serrated Utility Knife is solid and well-balanced, great for slicing tomatoes, veggies, citrus, and bread. The craftsmanship feels premium, and it performs well right out of the box. That said, giving the edge a quick sharpening makes a noticeable difference. With a little maintenance, this becomes a go-to everyday knife in any kitchen.

We have two Henckles knife blocks. One set of Henckles knives made in China, the other set of Henckles knives made in Taiwan. The Taiwan knives are heavier than the China ones. I lost my 5” serrated knife in my last move so the knife slot was empty and I decided to fill it. I wanted it to match but the only one made in Taiwan was on eBay and not in great shape. I decided to purchase this 5” serrated knife made in Germany on Amazon. There is no comparison to the one manufactured outside of Germany. This German knife is hefty and meticulously constructed, and beyond sharp - VERY high quality. Lesson learned. All Henckle knives are not created equal so don’t get fooled just because some products share the Henckles name! Buy the authentic Henckles marked “Made in Germany.” More expensive but worth every penny.

Great knife!! Extremely sharp. Good for cutting everything. Has never dulled

Though the price was a bit dear and the knife could have a bit more heft to it, which is why I only gave it a four. But I couldn't be more pleased with the cutting ability of this knife. The sharpness and style of cutting grooves makes it easy to handle and a joy to use. If it's in the budget, I HIGHLY recommend!

Very good tomato knife that has many other uses. Very sharp and the handle is very ergonomics. Recommend for any kitchen.

Great knife. Just what I wanted.

I cut cherry tomatos into quarters. Often. This does a flawless job. I love this knife. I've had it probably 8 months. I bought this to replace my old one after it's blade got snapped in an unfortunate drawer misshap. It was 15 to 20 years old and working well. I hope I have this replacement as long.

Les couteaux à pain sont de toutes formes et longueurs. La baguette gagne en popularité, un outil parfait était de mise. Ce couteau de Zwilling est tout indiqué. Il est très ergonomique, fabrication super et la longueur parfaite pour les baguettes. C'est mon troisième que j'achète, il sera un cadeau. Nul besoin d'une lame de 9 pouces quand il existe une de 5 po. Je le recommande fortement. Chez moi, ce couteau ne sert que pour la baguette. Une paire inséparable. A1.

The handle is not comfortable like the German made knives this one cuts well and holds it's edge but the Spanish made version is not up to scratch

I bought a Heineken kitchen knife to replace one that I lost. Wooden handle and 5 inch serrated blade. The new knife is just what I hoped for. It is a high quality product which will last for decades. It has good heft for a mid-sized kitchen knife. Easy to clean and dry.

Handle is too skinny for my liking and blade bends when cutting onions which can cause a nasty accident. I would not buy again.

This knife arrived ahead of schedule. It is still in the pack until July 7, which is my daughters birthday. It looks good. I have this knife and it is so handy. I use it for so much. I hope this one is as good as mine. I will post after her birthday if it is anything but a 5 star.
