Product Description 180 grams audiophile vinyl / Gatefold Sleeve About the Artist Music On Vinyl re-release the famous 'red sleeve' Fleetwood Mac Greatest Hits album. This record was a stalwart of every decent album collection in the early 1970's as it represented the first greatest hits package from Fleetwood Mac, covering the period from the band's beginning in 1968 through to 1971. Fleetwood Mac in their original incarnation were led by guitarist Peter Green and were leaders of the second British Blues boom of the late 1960s. Fleetwood Mac enjoyed several hit singles in the United Kingdom at that time and these are collated here for this album, originally issued on CBS Records only in the U.K. 'Albatross' was a huge chart hit in the UK whilst the single 'Black Magic Woman' helped to break Fleetwood Mac in the U.S.A via a cover version by Santana, who placed their version in the Billboard Top 40. The album gatefold shows a full-size photo of the post-Green line up of the band with Christine McVie (nee Perfect), even though she just plays piano on a couple tracks and wasn't a full-fledged member until after 'Kiln House' was released. Put on the Mac
'Oh Well', at last I have the CD copy which replaces the cassette copy that I have kept over the years. This is such a delight to listen to again with the original bluesy Fleetwood Mac of the Peter 'Green Manalishi' days. Mr Mick Fleetwood percussion shines through and John McVie's bass lines just adds to the rhythm of the tracks, most notabably their Number One hit from 1968 'Albatros'.This is the foundational Fleetwood Mac offering the best of their early material as the group sets out on their mamouth career. Does this make me a 'Man of the World', I wonder?

The real Fleetwood Mac?
Before they became an international jet setting, magazine filling, scandalous line-up changing phenomenon, there was a very good British blues band that had a unique guitarist called Peter Green, and a very solid backing group that played a very British form of blues. This is they, and some of the material that they recorded for (mainly) the Blue Horizon label. They too had a couple of line -up changes, but by and large Green remained the focus until they set off for pastures new, after a rather excellent hit with "Albatross". So that's the basis of this album, which will hopefully lead you to dig into the rest of the older material. There are a couple of 'hits', "Oh Well (both parts)" and "Man of the World" , but make a start with their version of Little Willie John's " Need you love so bad" and see where it takes you...

Great Fleetwood Mac Collection for fans of the Peter Green Era.
This is the CD re-issue of the original LP released in the early 1970s. There is another version of this album available, but it doesn't have the tracks upon it that appeared on side 1 of the original release. Get this and keep a look out for the other version, because the two versions of this are worth having each in their own right. Marvellous selection of tracks on this version, so get it with the other and you have a really excellent collection of early Fleetwood Mac. Great Compilation.

Great trip down memory lane
Can't really believe I bought this album on vinyl in 1971. It's still sounds so fresh, despite knowing every lyric and riff over 45 years on. For me, this is quintessential Mac. Homage to their true R and B roots, Peter Green before he went walkabout and every track is a well constructed winner. Green Manahishi remains my all time favourite, followed by Oh Well. And shame on FM for later refusing to play and saying they're 'bored' with Albatross. It made the band and despite that, it's a beautifully constructed sound that's endured for pushing half a century. This remains one of my top 5 albums. I lost the vinyl a few years ago. I'm delighted to have found a Cd and I still think the play order is genius. Well balanced and forever the real 'Mac'. Give it a spin...

The music is awesome, this review is for the vinyl. It arrived on time and was packaged carefully in a cardboard protector inside another box with packing material (nice). The record is beautiful and thick as a dinner plate. It is whisper quiet in the way of surface noise and sounds fantastic. MOV has done a great job as usual.

Das, was ich hier auf der CD höre, sind die wahren Fleetwood Mac. Habe nie verstanden wie man Jahre später diesen fürchterlichen Rock-Pop produzieren konnte. Ich liebe diesen Tonträger.
