Got fed up with breaking stemmed wine glasses. So in a flash of rare imagination looked for Duralex tumblers online (first came across the brand 40 years ago as my Dentist had them for swilling out mouth). Found that Amazon offered the best deal and chose the 5.6oz Gigogne tumblers. Had them for 9 months and no breakage to date. They remind me of France where the cheaper bistros use them. Stylish and good for scotch or wine and even beer if you want to sip slowly. Stack well and dish washer safe.

Cute but tiny. Get the next sizes up.

Bought these to use as espresso shot glasses. They heat up nicely with a shot of hot water, then empty and fill with a double espresso. (Pictured with a Sage Barista Express Impress double shot). Have cleaned them in a dishwasher without problems too.

Don't under estimate the power of giving your toddler an 'adult' glass to improve their willingness to drink nicely. The size is perfect for small hands and the glasses themselves are indestructible. They are thick so there is no risk from them being bitten, and they do not beak when dropped or banged about. We were using plastic beakers but the diameter was to large for the girls to hold firmly, a must for any family and a great price at just over a pound a glass. Great for a double shot of espresso too.

The product eventually arrived as ordered (after first being sent the "Picardie" model by mistake) to replace the last 3 of a previous set bought in France over 20 years ago. The simplicity and durability of these tumblers make them ideal for family use, partcularly with children and grandchildren when old enough to graduate to glassware, and for eating in the garden. The style neither dates nor intrudes. (Gigogne also feeds my nostalgia since I used the larger size daily at school dinners and in my college dining hall from 1958 to 1969).
