Great book - abysmal delivery
A classic of Linear Algebra, really well explained and layed out. Sadly I only got it because a kind postman picked it up from the top of a bin in the next street where the Amazon delivery driver left it. I recommend the book, but I hope you have better luck than me with the delivery!

Be aware of the edition number!
I just finished watching the great online MIT lectures - those were amazing and it became clear why everyone's such a fan of Strang! But I'm rating *this* specific 6th, latest, edition of *the book*, not the lectures. I found it quite confusing - the very good thing about it was that it led me to the open MIT website, so great, got quickly hooked on the lectures, but just judging it as a book - it might not be where you want to start. I've been comparing it with the 4th edition, and that earlier edition, which is the one the online course materials most directly and consistently refer to (e.g., the readings per lecture are given for 4th and 5th edition, but the assignments only from the 4th edition). The 4th edition was quite different - it took more time to develop ideas, didn't introduce so much so quickly. The content is similar but I think it could be more confusing in this edition. So I think the recommendation I'd give, with my current understanding, is: Watch the online lectures first and foremost, with the 4th edition alongside for reading and exercises. That said, the *content* is great, and I believe it's added things since earlier editions, so I'm sure it has its own value, but as indicated by another reviewer, you could be disappointed if you think it'll work as a book for independent study.

Excelente livro, muito didático e com excelentes exercícios ao final das seções de cada capítulo. Ainda acompanha o material, vídeos-aula do professor Strang no MIT. Recomendo fortemente a compra do livro.

Great book, it gets a little difficult to follow from chapter 8+, especially if You lack of past concepts

The book is splendid in its content. But the Binding is the worst . All the pages are now coming out. I have to get it rebound again in India in a different way. That is the worst part of it. Nothing to complain of the contents of the Book. This is my class textbook for the BS-ES Program from IIT Madras and is excellent to understand.
