Free delivery on eligible orders of £20 or more. Review: Great quality - It has a strong shaft and a nice bill-hook blade that looks like it can be replaced if needed. As you would expect, it's quite blade heavy and takes a certain amount of strength and stamina to use it for any length of time but should deal with brambles and other undergrowth easily. Review: Poor quality - The shaft has no shape to add strength where it is needed and aid grip other than a tiny tiny swell at the end. The big problem is the socket that the shaft slots into. It’s completely uneven and wraps unequally around the woodwork leaving it weaker on one side than the other. It’s no wonder that others have had problems with them snapping. This must be a second, it will be going back to be swapped and if the next one is crap, I’ll be asking for a refund. Why these can’t be made to the same quality as older ones is beyond me. Old ones are much lighter so quicker to swing, this is more like a cleaver. If the next one is no good then I’ll get an old Elswell or the like from the well known auction site. ## Features - Ideal for thinning, trimming and clearing brush thickets - Weatherproofed hickory handle - 760 mm (30) handle - 380 mm (15) blade - Solid forged socket and epoxy coated head - Grow Your Own 2022 Great British Growing Award Winners ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B0044TLSUE | | Best Sellers Rank | 41,820 in Garden ( See Top 100 in Garden ) 5 in Scythes | | Blade Colour | Silver | | Blade Edge | Plain | | Blade Material Type | Stainless Steel | | Blade edge | Plain | | Blade length | 380 Millimetres | | Blade material | Stainless Steel | | BladeLength | 380 Millimetres | | Brand | Spear & Jackson | | Brand Name | Spear & Jackson | | Colour | Multi-colour | | Construction Type | Forged, Wood | | Country Of Origin | India | | Customer Reviews | 3.6 out of 5 stars 86 Reviews | | Global Trade Identification Number | 05011198080502 | | Handle Material | Hickory | | Handle material | Hickory | | Included Components | Blade | | Is the item dishwasher safe? | No | | Item Length | 1190 Millimetres | | Item Weight | 1.77 Kilograms | | Manufacturer | Spear & Jackson | | Manufacturer Part Number | 4605BU | | Material Type | Mixed Materials | | Model Number | 4605BU | | Number of Items | 1 | | Size | 38 cm | | Unit Count | 1.0 count | ## Product Details - **Blade edge:** Plain - **Blade material:** Stainless Steel - **Brand:** Spear & Jackson - **Colour:** Multi-colour - **Handle material:** Hickory ## Images ![Spear & Jackson 4605BU Irish Slasher - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/31jV+6onEWL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great quality *by S***S on 24 May 2019* It has a strong shaft and a nice bill-hook blade that looks like it can be replaced if needed.
