These are lovely for learning place value and basic math. Not flimsy. I do wish they came with a sturdier storage situation. The flimsy plastic is less desirable. Best for ages over 3 or whenever your child stops putting stuff in their mouth.

I tried making my own because other sets were so expensive. When I stumbled on this set I ordered instantly. This has helped my son understand addition and subtraction so much better.

My children are learning addition/subtraction, and multiplication separately, and this works great for each child doing different mathematics. This set has 10 sets of each bead amount, and goes up to 10 (some only goes up to 9). This was fairly inexpensive for a full set of 10 while others are about $75+ for a set of 10. This set is great for home use when teaching my school age children quantities like addition, subtraction, and multiplication. Each piece is made of sturdy metal wires and coordinating color beads. It comes in a plastic dividing case (not as firm as I would like, but it’s not really flimsy either). There’s no real carrying case for it, but we reuse the cardboard box it comes packed in when it’s not in use. This is no big deal considering the price point and quality of chain beads we are getting. Highly recommended for anyone looking for Montessori style learning at home.

I bought this for my daughter to practice numbers, and it’s amazing! The understanding and comprehension are super easy. If my mom had known about a product like this when I was a kid, maybe I wouldn’t have struggled so much with math.
